Default Map downloader not accessing EQ2.ini file

Ok, heres whats going on, I installed .net 1.1 and then installed the map downloader, ran it, and got an error message that it was not being allowed access to the eq2.ini file, it then went thought the process of downloading all the maps, but once in the game, none of the maps had dots on them for points of interest. So then I read thought the fourms and got to the link to download .net 2.0beta, got that finished and then reran the map updated, got the same message.... Any clues on how to fix this?

only 2 things I can think of to check right away ....

make sure the eq2.ini file hasn't been made read-only / hidden and the settings for the eq2 directory, eq2.exe path and UI are set correctly in the EQ2Map options.

if that sorts it out then

you can always just delete eq2.ini and then re-run the updater if you dont know how to set file permissions. when it sees that eq2.ini is not there (from you deleting it) it will make a new eq2.ini and set it up.

if your not sure what extension it has follow the steps http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/f...talling_eq2ini at that link to make windows show the file extensions for files, then once you are done you can re-check the box to hide them again (if you want to). you only need to do the first 2 form that section.

also if the icon looks like this:

then it is the ini file
