In testing the POIFinder plugin I noticed that quite often the POIs don't show after you zone, you need to close and reopen the map window to get them to show.
And POIs like zone markers, which are part of the default UI, are in fact all over the place. Othesus made a post about that. As far as I understand, that is for SOE to fix, but I haven't really looked into it. You can disable the standard POIs via the [+] icon in EQ2MAP since currently they are basically useless.
