Is it possible that you guys load the game via everquest2.exe and haven't run the launchpad in a while? It may be that you do not have the latest eq2 client version (thx Zoltaroth for the tip ).

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.
