DarqUI v2.3 Window Utility

Description
DarqUI v2.5.1.2

February 27, 2015

A new version of the DarqUI Window Utility is available. Version 2.5.1.2 adds support for some recently added features including:

Maintained Spell Monitor:

* The Amount range that can be displayed and logically evaluated for setpoint warnings is increased from 16384 to one million (999,999). This is primarily to accommodate larger ward "amount remaining" values. Thanks to Istarial for the suggestion. Stack and Timer ranges did not change.

* Added optional setpoint logic tooltips to spell tiles.

Target/Implied Target:

* Updated Target/Implied target windows to work with the new version of the utility.

Window Utility:

* Numerical spin control maximum increased to 999999 on Maintained Spell Monitor setup page.

* Added checkbox to toggle setpoint tooltips for monitored spell tiles.

* Added controls for Target/Implied Target power bar display.

If you do not care about the new features, you can continue to use the previous window utility to receive new files. But you will only be able to configure the new features using utility version 2.5.1.2.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 25, 2015

* Tradeskills: Added Tradeskill Vitality, Level and Level XP to stats panel on crafting and experimentation create pages (see image below). Tradeskill Vitality text changes color to warn when it drops below 10 percent. Note: If you have changed any of the Tradeskill window defaults (Misc tab in the utility) you will need to reset them since this window does not save and merge changes between versions.

* Target and Implied Target: Added an option to display a power bar under the health bar. Thanks to Nodor for the suggestion.

Use a new checkbox on the Target and Implied Target options panels in-game to show the power bar for the current session. To show the power bar permanently, use Notepad to change the following setting near the top of the UI file:

<Data Name="VarsS019" Tag="ShowHealthAndPower" Value="true" />

Window Utility controls for this setting will be available when the next utility version is published.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 22, 2015

* Bank: Added an option to automatically open all bank bags when you visit any bank.

* Character: Added a Summoned Pet Stats tab to the Stats/Sets sidebar (see image below). This is primarily for Mage summoned pets which do not have a Persona page. Warders and Constructs are considered summoned and will also raise a tab which duplicates the stats sidebar for their Persona pages.

* Window Manager: Adds auto-open Bank setting.

February 10, 2015

A new version of the DarqUI Window Utility is available. Version 2.5.1.1 includes several usability improvements and two bug fixes. DarqUI game files have not changed. Utility updates include:

* Characters in the Quick Setup grid can now be sorted alphabetically or by level, class or server. If you use Quick Setup to refresh your characters as they level up, listing them alphabetically rather than by xp level will be less disruptive.

* Optional auto-close feature found on the Updates tab will automatically close the utility after an update check yields "No new updates."

* Optional auto-launch feature will run a selected application after the utility is closed either manually or automatically. Right-click the auto-launch button to select a program. Thanks to xsile for the idea.

* If you re-order your characters with Quick Setup, the utility will now preserve monitored spell lists for characters that it recognizes.

* The utility now recognizes the Aerakyn race and will not prevent those characters from being configured automatically. Thanks vampiregoat69 for the heads-up.

* Corrected an issue with setpoint values on the SpellMon tab that would sometimes cause the utility to throw an exception.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

November 19, 2014 Window Utility

A new version of the DarqUI Window Utility is available. Version 2.5.1 includes the following changes:

* Alternate download method: If you are experiencing consistent download timeouts when updating files, check this new box on the Settings tab. Thanks to Rexxon and Greyfang for their help testing this change.

* Threat/Detriment tab: added new Cerebral potions to self-cure default choices.

These are the only two changes to the utility. If you are not having trouble downloading and do not care about the potion choices, you do not need to get the new utility version. All DarqUI files going forward will be downloadable from either version 2.5.0 or 2.5.1.

November 11, 2014: Altar of Malice

A new version of DarqUI is available. DarqUI v2.5 includes the following new or expanded features:

Configurable character slots have been increased to 12 on all character-customizable windows and the Quick Setup feature. If you are upgrading to version 2.5 from an earlier version, you must be using v2.4 or higher files in order to merge character customizations successfully. New DarqUI users are not affected by this change.

Group and Raid windows: Level 96 through 100 spell suggestions and icons are included in the internal spell database and in the English and German external spell lists in CSV format.

Community window: Added group invite, raid invite, private tell and "who all" buttons to the Friends list. Thanks to Xerek for the suggestion.

Character window: Armor Sets tab, Aerakyn wing appearance and Spell Filtering Options added to match new default features. Broker button added to the Currency tab, Render Mount selection added to Mounts tab.

Raid, Guild, Broker and XP/Stats windows: Adjusted for Level 100.

Maintained Spell Monitor: Choose standard window with vertical spell tiles or a new compact horizontal icon-only version.

Target/Implied Target: Distance meter is turned on automatically if a player is trying to use the Distance Monitor with it turned off. Thanks TStuc70890 for the idea.

XP/Stats Bar: Master volume, music volume and "night vision" controls are more accurate.

LoginScene: Added Altar of Malice graphics references.

Color Themes and Skins: Updated with new graphics. If you only use Red or Blue default color themes, you do not need to download the new theme files.

Window Utility changes:

* Configurable character slots increased from 8 to 12.
* File updater allows selecting UI pieces from multiple options.
* Bag, Chat and Maintained Spell Monitor alternates are now handled on the Updates tab. Right-click the gear icon to choose an alternate.
* "What's New" panel is now independent from the update log scroll. Click the X to return to the update log after viewing an item description.
* Simplified the way the utility interacts with the Internet when checking for UI components.
* File updater module has been improved to provide more robust handling of transient download errors.
* Added code to automatically detect and delete zero-length files from failed UI and theme downloads.
* Enhanced logging to improve diagnostics.
* Expanded the list of graphics files available to the custom theme chooser.
* Added file list checking and reporting when a theme or other folder contains only a partial download.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

For current DarqUI users: Download, unzip and replace the DarqUI Window Utility with version 2.5.1.2. Run the new utility as Administrator and follow the prompts to retrieve updates. If you have been keeping backups when you save, you will have the option of merging your current customizations with the new files immediately. Choose "Auto" at the top of the Updates tab to merge settings without prompting.

For new users: Download, unzip and run the DarqUI Window Utility. You can create a new folder in your EverQuest II\UI folder, or the program will create it for you. Follow the prompts to retrieve your new UI files. Click here to view a short walkthrough for first-time setup. If you plan to use EQ2MAP, it is suggested that you set that up in the DarqUI folder first, before you begin customizing the interface.

Recently Added or Updated DarqUI Windows:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

DarqUI Self/Target/Implied Target Casting Bars

Player Window

The DarqUI Player Window has clickable personal status indicators for AFK, LFG, ANON, LFW and RP. Use the Window Utility to add or remove individual switches from the display.

XP/Stats/Command Bar

Use the DarqUI Window Utility to choose from 15 different left- and right-side stat "pages" for each of the five XP bars: Adventure, Tradeskill, Alternate Advancement, PvP and Guild. When you switch to a different XP bar by clicking the gold gem, the correct stat pages are displayed. You can also scroll through the various pages using controls on the XP/Stats window.

Tradeskills Window

The DarqUI Tradeskill window offers single-pane and side-by-side crafting views. Select a recipe from the list on the left-hand side, and then use either the mouse or the keyboard to craft the item. Press Enter twice to repeat a combine; press Esc to stop production. Speed up writs by searching your recipe books with the search filters or the drop-down favorites list while you are in the middle of a combine.

Audible and Visual Event Timer: When performing combines, you can optionally display a graphical cooldown bar for the event timer, similar to the way spells work on your hotbars. In addition, you can add an audible signal so you'll never miss reacting to another crafting event. Toggle both of these features on and off at any time using controls on the event display area.

Recipe Memory: The Last Recipe button solves a frequent annoyance: Often you will use the tradeskill search box to find a recipe in your book for a quest or writ, only to find out that you need to go back to the guild hall to craft it, or close the tradeskill window for some other reason. When you get to the crafting station, you have to search for the recipe all over again. Instead, use the clock icon to instantly recall your last recipe search -- a simple but handy feature.

Character (Persona) Window

The DarqUI Character window offers custom controls for each of your characters: decide whether to show or hide the stats side-panel by default, and choose which of the sub-sections (Melee, Defense, etc.) to automatically expand or close. Use icons instead of text labels for the page tabs for a more efficient window footprint (all characters).

Combat Stats Tab: A new Combat Stats tab has been added to the main body of the Character window that contains all the stats from the side tab except for Tradeskill, Miscellaneous and PvP. This may eliminate the need to pop out the side panel at all most of the time. Click on any stat to toggle a colored highlight behind it, which will stay highlighted until you toggle it off or log out. Give this a try and you'll see how much easier it is to track your favorite stats.

Live Combat Stat Display: When you use the highlighter on the Combat Stats tab, your first four stat choices will be displayed on a new special page on the Experience bar. Scroll to the Custom Stats page on the XP bar, and dynamically choose the live stats you want to track without keeping the Persona window open.

Notes: New Notes tabs on the Biography page act as a handy "blackboard" to keep to-do lists or other reminders for each character. A shared notes tab lets you save notes on one character that can be read by all characters.

EQ2Inventory Integration: Not sure if one of your alts has a certain item, but you don't have time to log over and check? Use the EQ2Inventory controls to log and display inventories (bags, bank, shared bank, house vault) for all of your characters. The EQ2Inventory program (also available on EQ2Interface) finds, loads, links and reports on inventories using special log files generated by the Character window.

(See composite screenshots for additional images)

Spellcast Monitor (Ctrl+Shift+T)

This window listens and reports on player and NPC spellcasting activity. During battle, spells and combat arts frequently are cast so quickly that you don't have time to see and react to them. The spell monitor solves this problem by allowing you to collect and learn spellcasting patterns on an encounter-by-encounter basis. When a spell is cast, the name goes into the next open slot on the list. Each time it's recast the spell slot lights up for several seconds and optionally plays a sound or sends a line of text into chat.

Spellcast History: The Spellcast Monitor also includes an optional spell history overlay. Wade into battle and the Spellcast Monitor will begin collecting player or NPC spells and cast times. Countdown timer bars can be configured for specific recast estimates, or the monitor can display a history of pre-casting and casting intervals for you. When the encounter is over, the timers shut down automatically.

Audible and Chat Channel Announcements: New shortcuts in the DarqUI setup utility make it easy to add your target's name (%TT), implied target's name (%IT), and the name of the spell being cast (%S) into chat channel announcements. You can set up alerts prior to an encounter by choosing from the configurable preset dropdown, type the spell names manually, or use the auto-fill feature when you target a specific NPC. This window has proven useful in learning spellcasting patterns in raid encounters, but it's also helpful and fun to play with in solo and group gameplay. Since a large part of EQII combat is reacting to enemy spellcasts, the spell monitor makes it less necessary to stay glued to the casting bar.

LoginScene Account/Character List

The DarqUI Window Utility does not interact with the personal information in this file, but you can use a text editor to add up to six accounts (passwords optional) as well as up to 20 characters to the dropdown lists. If you have several accounts, this window will take the frustration out of switching between them. If you do not configure any accounts, the window will operate like the default.

IMPORTANT: To maintain the security of your personal information, please carefully read all of the instructions in the LoginScene file before making any customizations!

Raid Health and Power Monitor

Tracking Window

Window Settings

Use "padlock" icons and numerical display to link normal and mouse-over transparencies together precisely. Locate, show, center or move to default location windows that have moved off-screen or have become inadvertently hidden.

Quick Setup

If you have certain characters that have been heavily customized in the DarqUI Window Utility, use the padlock icons to bypass those characters while automatically setting up others.

Set Prices -- Commission Calculator

Pet and Mercenary Windows

One-button mercenary/warder/pet pulls: Use the slider control to choose a backoff delay between 1 and 15 seconds, then press the pull button to send your pet, warder or mercenary to the current target. When the pet acquires hate, the backoff timer will start and the pet will automatically move toward you with the mob until the preset backoff time expires. The pet will then turn and resume attacking, automatically restoring preserve_master and preserve_self protection states. Visual feedback inside the window keeps you informed of all actions in the pull sequence. You can interrupt the sequence at any point by pressing one of the command icons.

The Pet window also includes Call, Shrink and Pet Options controls; the Mercenary window includes a button to open the mercenary's tab in the Persona window. Both windows have a sync (close) button that appears when the window is visible but you do not have a pet/mercenary.

The automatic pull feature can be used from a hotbar macro button as well as from the pull button on the window itself. When setting up a macro button, use one of the following commands:

show_window MainHUD.Pet.Pull
show_window MainHUD.Mercenary.Pull

Example:

Threat/Detriment Window

Persona Window Note Tabs

Broker Window Price Presets

EQ2U Character Lookup

Configuration Utility

Quick Setup: If setting up your characters in the utility has baffled you in the past, give the new Quick Setup feature a try. With a couple of clicks the utility will find your characters and set up the entire DarqUI interface to take advantage of the character- and class-specific features. New users click here for a quick walk-through.

Beastlord and Savagery

The Savagery window can be resized horizontally, and the skull graphic can be hidden by choosing Frame Only from window settings. Remove the frame completely by choosing None.

Using the DarqUI Window Utility you can choose an icon size and padding for the minimized Beastlord bar (the version without the paw graphic) which will stick between sessions. The default is set to 32x32 with 1 pixel padding. Move the mini-bar by using the left and top edges of the window, and resize the mini-bar using right side and bottom edges.

Mercenary

Payday tracking has been added to the DarqUI Mercenary and Persona windows. A uniquely-colored progress bar tracks your mercenary's pay graphically, and with 2 minutes remaining before the next payday the Mercenary window flashes briefly as a reminder and plays an alert sound (both configurable). Having this information allows you to suspend the mercenary if needed before you get charged for another 30 minutes.

Casting Bar

This is a resizable casting bar, with text font size that adjusts as you change the size of the bar. You can optionally change the bar color, turn on/off the text resizing feature, and add a dark gray backdrop behind the bar for theme skins that leave the casting bar background transparent.

Hotbar

The DarqUI Hotbar includes a spell recast "cooldown" timer overlay. Choose "Frame and Titlebar" from the Window Settings menu to activate the timers for any hotbar. If you want timers but no frame, set the frame sliders to zero. Timer text appears in the lower-left corner of each icon and resizes as you change the size of the hotbar icons. When the spell or combat art is almost ready to be recast, the timer changes color. All of the timer defaults are preset from the downloader, or you can optionally customize the warning interval, text colors and font size breakpoints.

Web Browser

The in-game Web browser has been completely remodeled to work more like a mainstream browser. The address bar doubles as a smart search box: type your search terms directly into the address bar and your preferred search provider will deliver the result. The multi-tabbed interface maintains page contents even if you close the window. Choose or create website favorites with icons. Track your URL history. Decide on a new home page with a single click.

ACT Mode: Switching to this new mode from the Tools menu converts the browser into a streamlined, single-pane viewer that automatically displays live ACT spell timers and encounter data. You can configure the viewer to open in the same place on your screen each time you use it, and the local ACT file does not have to be your home page. (You must turn on the HTML export feature in the Advanced Combat Tracker program in order to display it.) Leaving ACT Mode puts the normal browser back where you left it, so you can switch between modes seamlessly. Using ACT with the in-game browser is finally effortless.

Size and Color Bags

One of the time-consuming parts of the EverQuest II interface, especially when you create a new character, is resizing each individual bag and bank box to the slot size and spacing that you prefer. New controls in version 2.21 allow you to choose a standardized slot size and spacing for all bags across all of your characters, even the ones you haven't created yet. If you decide later on a different size, change the value in the utility and all of your containers will respond the next time you open them. (The auto-bag size feature is turned off by default when you initially download the interface -- you must choose a preferred size and turn it on manually from the containers tab in the utility.)

You can choose up to 8 background colors and associate those colors with certain containers. Use a green bag for items to be sold at the vendor, a red container for raid armor, the choice is yours. You can also choose a default color for all containers that do not have a color category.

Broker Window

Easy Search Filters: A new Quick Reset button on the main window activates when you run a custom search, either manually or through a Saved Search filter. Mousing over the Reset button will give you a pop-up listing of your current search parameters. Click the Reset button to quickly clear the filters without opening the custom filter dialog.

A "Shop Item" button has been added to the Buy side, which functions similarly to the Search Broker control on the Sell side. Select an item from a mixed search result, then click Shop Item to find all sellers who have the selected item for sale.

Broker Search Favorites: As a more lightweight alternative to dropdowns with many preset items to sort through, the DarqUI Broker window offers a simple list of 10 common searches for each character. Search once for the item, then click an empty slot on the search list to save it as a "favorite." This gives you fast, customized one-click access to each character's favorite broker searches.

Preset Prices: Pricing and listing many items with similar prices is easy using the preset price list. Set up to 6 custom prices for each character, then price and list any item instantly with a couple of clicks. Values can be set and changed without using the setup utility, and presets display with the correct coin colors for each denomination.

(See composite screenshots for images)

Examine Window

A new "Shop" control makes it easy to shop the Broker for items and recipe scrolls from the Examine window. If you are using the DarqUI Broker window, the Shop button appears only when you are at the Broker (or the bulletin board in your house). If you use the default Broker window or a different custom Broker window, the Shop button always appears alongside the website URL shortcuts.

(See composite screenshots for images)

New Theme

A "Fossil" theme is available as an option on the updater. This skin features a neutral color theme with most of the brightly colored elements from the default UI remodeled into a more organic cut-stone appearance. There are also two adaptations of full skins by Drakah and gurkoz on the updater. Both of these artists have done an amazing job of capturing the look and feel of their respective interfaces. If you ever played Vanguard or EverQuest II in the early days, these themes are guaranteed to give you a smile, and you can switch between them with a click of the mouse.

There are some changes to the dressing room on the updater. Items that use the scroll wheel to zoom should scale down much smaller than before. Try it and post again if it gives you any more trouble.

As soon as you change anything with the Setup Utility regarding the target window, eg. sounds or warnings, or remove the URL Icon, the whole UI get's wrecked.

Then the only thing that is to do is setup anew with a full UI wipe.

Doesn't matter if you change the settings back, the UI stays broken.

How does it look like?

The standard UI is mixed with Darq UI. You can't activate one or the other as working properly. both broken.

.

Else the Spellmonitor in german has trouble with the ,, and again. copying from the log and pasting into the utility like it did work last time doesn't do the trick.

A Raidmate of mine told me to change the Text the monitor is listening for inside of the game. Then even typing ,,, is working, even though they are shown as rectangels.

Logging removes the changes though.

I'll try configuring this thing within the next 2 days (raid tomorrow against lag, so no time to test I think) with configuring in game and cut and paste from there into the setup utility.

Else wonderful as ever =) The new dressing window is just awesome.

Kind Regards
Anghammarad

I think both of these can be fixed at the same time. On the Settings tab of the utility, uncheck international compatibility mode and then save the target and spell monitor from the utility. In fact, if you are using the Spell ID Numbers setting for group and raid spell buttons, you may have better results to leave international compatibility turned off entirely. Try this and post again if you are still getting errors.

I copy and paste spell names from the Valor log files into the utility since my system doesn't do the umlaut characters easily, and generally I don't have problems with the spell monitor recognizing the special characters.

Thanks for your help! With the settings mentioned, spells are showing and working perfectly.

If it is necessary to rename him, I'll do it, but is there a way around this? Like, loading a differently named set for this character (set up for correct class and level, of course). Any help is appreciated!

Good call, Anghammarad. There is an updated window on the updater. Thanks for the heads-up!

How do I get it back?

If you want to use the default autoattack bar, go to Options (Alt+O) >> User interface >> Game Windows >> Show the autoatack timing bar. Make sure you have a checkmark there, then use the Locate feature again. If you want to use the DarqUI version, open the settings menu on the Threat/Detriment window and put a checkmark on Melee Attack Bars. You can also choose an audible autoattack signal on the DarqUI version.

If you hover your mouse over the various widgets in the utility, there is quite a bit of context-sensitive help in the area at the bottom of the utility. Here are most of the help strings for the Maintained Spell Monitor from the utility. There is a little bit of overlap where similar information appears on multiple widgets:

Basic Help: Maintained Spell Monitor

The DarqUI Maintained Spell Monitor separates selected spell icons from the Maintained Spells window, allowing you to track them more easily. Choose up to seven maintained spells depending on your character's class and AA choices. In addition to displaying the selected spell icons, the Spell Monitor can also provide visual feedback if a displayed value (Prestige Stack, Amount, or Timer) falls into or out of a specified setpoint range.

You can optionally configure a follow-up reaction button that appears next to the icon. This reaction button can either recast the spell on the current target or cast a different non-targeted spell. For example, certain Prestige abilities become more powerful or unlock other abilities as the Stack increments increase. You can add the consuming spell to the follow-up button, potentially freeing up a hotbar slot.

Listen (Monitor Maintained Spells): Check this box to show the Maintained Spells window upon logging in with this character. Each character can be set to monitor or ignore Maintained spells. If you hide (ignore) the Maintained Spell Monitor for a certain character and decide to show the window during a game session, type the following command into chat:

/show_window MainHUD.Betamark.Restore

Check the first checkbox on the Options menu that appears, and the monitor will remain visible until you log out or turn it off again.

Monitored Spell Name: Each character can monitor up to seven Maintained spells. Type the exact spell name as it appears in the Maintained Spells window, including any roman numeral level designations, into this input box.

Follow-Up Spell: Depending upon the type of spell being monitored, you can optionally add a follow-up reaction button that appears next to the icon. To recast the spell on its current target, type or choose "recast spell on target" from the dropdown. Priest wards are a good example of this type of follow-up spell. Mercenaries cannot receive spell recasts from this button.

In other cases, you may want to cast a different, non-targeted spell. For example, some classes have Prestige AA spells that include an increment stack. When the stack reaches a certain level, a second spell can be cast to consume the increments. In this case, type the exact name of the consuming spell into the Followup field. If you leave the Followup field blank, the spell's target will be displayed on the spell tile with no button.

Keep in mind that not all spells are good choices for the follow-up button. For example, a spell that toggles on and off would simply remove the spell as if you had recast it manually. Spells that are cast from items (poisons, clickable armor spells) cannot be used as follow-ups."

Warning Equation: You may optionally set up a visual warning tile that appears depending upon the current status of the monitored spell. Any of the numerical integer values that appear in the corners of the spell icon can be monitored. For example, if the timer is about to expire on a spell that needs reapplying, or when the number of poison charges reaches a low level, or when the Prestige stack counter reaches a certain value.

Choose one of:
Stack (green Prestige stack number)
Amount (ward amount, poison count, etc.)
Timer (countdown timer)

Warning Setpoint Logic: To set up a warning for a spell, you can choose to monitor Prestige AA Stack, Amount remaining (ward amounts, poison charges, etc.) or Timer. In the logic dropdown, choose whether the warning range is less than, greater than, or equal to the setpoint value in the third field. Note that you need a complete logical statement ("Timer > 25" for example) in order for the utility to save the warning settings. If you leave out the warning type or the logical operator, the warning definition will be left empty when saved.

Supply the logic you want to follow:
Greater than (GT)
Less than (LT)
Equal to (EQ)

When the setpoint range is reached, a colored warning panel behind the icon will illuminate; when the current value falls out of the range, the warning panel will disappear.

Increment Warning Setpoint: Many Maintained spell icons have numerical values such as time remaining, Stack value or amount remaining (wards, poison charges, etc.) You can optionally specify a setpoint range for one of these values to monitor. The monitor will display a colored warning panel behind the icon when the setpoint range is reached. When the specified value falls outside of the setpoint range, the warning panel will disappear. Allowable values are 0 through 999999, which is the highest value that can be displayed and monitored on the Spell Monitor icons. You can choose a flashing or solid warning panel, and choose a warning color elsewhere on this tab.
