I run Vista on a Dell Laptop, Core 2 Duo. I downloaded the UI auto updater, and then had to tell the updater where my eq2 files were ( I keep EQ2 on a separate WD Passport drive to free up the ridiculously small amount of free space I have on my laptop)

But, other than that, THIS UI ROCKS. I'm SOO impressed. I've never tried a CUSTOM UI before this, but I AM a UI junkie...this really fixed some issues I was having with EQ2's lack of UI imagination.

I wanted to say thank you. The links to Allakhazam, eq2 i, and google on the journal are AMAZING...the Broker UI is FANTASTIC, and I'm excited to see how else I can play with this UI.

Thanks so much! I'm sure to get the most out of my time spent on EQ2 now, and I'm just SUPER impressed.

i also would like to mention i have the lastest java and i have the icon for the updater but once i start it i get the microsoft has encountered an error box.i tried moving the updater file to my profit folder that didnt help.i'm using windows xp too if thats a problem i dunno.any help will be appreciated

everytime i try to load it it crashes am i supposed to have this file somewhere?.i'm not computer savvy so any help would be great.since gu44 my raid/group cure windows are clouded out

omg let me select more then one file at a time to ignore im finaly making the move to this ui and this process is cumbersome. let me click and drag all the files i want to ignore.

If the program is crashing you do not have the latest Java Runtime Environment on your computer. Go to java.sun.com and grab it.

I don't know why the installer doesn't automatically find this problem, most java programs redirect you to nab the latest version beforehand with a routine written in C or something.

I have used Profit UI for a LONG time and made the mistake of checking out another UI (on a friends' recommendation,oops!!!). I have done a complete wipe and re-install of EQ2 from the ground up and STILL cannot get the updater to actually "update" the UI. It connects...tells me if I need an update, but when I change skins in the variants options...NOTHING. Would appreciate any help that can be given or a step-by-step installation walkthrough for DUMBIES. Thanks. Just hope I can the best Da...ng UI out their goin' again. ~Xant~

Edit: I am also getting some of the default UI windows and the background on the top and bottom bars (along with some of the startbutton icons) are all white and the icons missing. /bows his head in mourning for the loss of his UI.

Heya again, problem solved, found post, the variants were not downloaded to the providers server at the time should be good now. Thanksya!!! : )

I still can't get this to connect, I downloaded and installed the updated version of the updater and its still giving me that connect error, any suggestions?

Any update on the crash problem? My main box runs Vista and the updater works fine. I installed on my XP Pro laptop and it always crashes. Copying the file direct from the vista box did not help, so I suspect there is some prereq file missing.

I am quite a noob, Ive been playing eq2 since beta but Ive never been using custom UIs. Now the cure clickies lured me in - and Iam really really loving this But I cant seem to find the pet window ! any idea how to find / use it ?

I have the same problem except I have XP Pro. As soon as I open the program, it crashes.. At least I'm not the only one.

The "Can't Connect" issue is addressed in GM9's ever so helpful FAQ, but I'll re-post the fix here:

If that does not help, restarting your network router is a good idea.

If you still have issues, note that some users have trouble resolving the domain name above due to a partly broken windows installation. If you have that problem - easily tested by unsuccessfully pointing your browser to the above address - you can use the following workaround (as an alternative to reinstalling Windows):

Go to %windir%\system32\drivers\etc
Open the file "hosts" in notepad and add the following line at the bottom of it:

85.214.17.144 updater.pala.de



Make sure the file is not set to read-only (right click, file properties). Should you not have a hosts file (which would be strange) then just create one with notepad and paste that line into it. Make sure it is just called hosts, not hosts.txt or something like that. But you really should have one...

You may need to restart windows for this to take effect, but then the updater will be able to connect. If the IP of the updater ever changes you will need to manually change this again.

Same issue today, just upgraded my PC with new hardware new Vista Ultimate install. Tried suggestions in FAQ, still same issue...Previous setup installed and worked no issue.

Any insights would be appreciated

Hi All

Just having some problems with the updater 1.09. Having just uninstalled the earlier version and tried to manually install the new version as the system just keeps giving me a proxy connection option. Stating Can't Connect. Can anyone help??? There must be someone out there that has had this error.

p.s. I have all other internet connections working and none need a proxy...
