To install DarqUI

A setup video is available as a supplement to these instructions.

Open the zipped file that you downloaded from the DarqUI page. Drag DarqUI Unified.exe out to a convenient place on your computer. Common locations include the Desktop or the \EverQuest II\UI\ folder. Double-click DarqUI Unified to start the installation. As long as your game folder is in a reasonably accessible location the installation should be self-explanatory and painless.

To use DarqUI on Test or Beta:

Follow the above instructions, but drop a copy of the utility into \TestServer\UI\ or \BetaServer\UI\ and run it from there. The utility will detect its location and install into the correct folder for the special server.

After you have installed DarqUI (and optionally EQ2MAP) DarqUI Unified can be used to receive updated file versions, configure specific UI pieces, manage character inventories, search chat logs, and quite a few other useful and convenient features. Click the [?] in the upper right-hand corner of the app to access complete context-sensitive help.

To upgrade to a newer version of the DarqUI Unified app

Simply replace the old utility with the newer version. As long as you drop the newer version into the same location as the old version and do not change the name of the file, your settings from the older utility will be carried over automatically to the new version.

Using the utility

The utility has two distinct modes: Settings and Components. The Settings area is used for getting file updates, backing up configurations, choosing a theme, and many other features not directly associated with the DarqUI windows themselves. The Components area allows you to configure specific game windows for specific characters. You can switch between the two modes by clicking the button in the upper-left corner of the utility:
