Default EQ2 maps in XP

OK I am a computer dummy but most of the advice in the forums seems to be aimed at Vista users. I still use XP and haven't been able to find how to or where to extract my maps. I downloaded the files without any problem (as far as I know) and all I want to know is where to extract the maps. Some of the instructions say to load them to the EQ2.exe but I don't see that, only the EQ2 launcher but I don't want to put them there unless I know that is the correct file.

The only thing that would differ is the path to your EQ2 directory. Anything after EverQuest II\ is the same.

Default EQ2 maps in XP

Can I extract the files into the folder in EQ2 that has maps or would that not work? I simply do not see an EQ2.exe file anywhere.

If you're looking for it for the updater, in XP it should be in C:/Program Files/Sony/EverQuest II/ by default. For XP the autoupdating version should be quite easy to use (no vista headaches due to access permissions and such)

Default Maps in XP

OK I extracted the files into the EQ2 directory and I see the EQ2 Maps folder in EQ2 but I still don't have the maps in game. Is there something else I need to do to get the game to look in that file folder?

Make sure you have an eq2.ini in your main EverQuest folder that is set-up properly. I don't use the manual version so I'm not sure if it's included by default or not, but your actual eq2map folder should be in EverQuest II/UI/ -- if you're seeing an EQ2MAP folder just in EverQuest II/ then it's in the wrong place.

If you are still having issue you can use my updater and if it don't detect your eq2 path you can just drag and drop your eq2 shortcut to eq2's path text box in settings and it'll get it from that and set every thing else up for you.
