Default NSC2 paperdoll

i'd like to use the "create character" system to get some generic race images for the wiki, but i'm running in a problem, that multicolored moving background is playing hell on my jpg's.

after playing with ui builder for about 2 hours trying (and failing) too add some sort of solid colored object behind the paper doll, i'm coming here.

i'm looking for someone with knowlege how the nsc2 stuff is layerd so that i can put something behind the doll, or failing that a way to disable that background.

I'm guessing you don't want to have to log in all the way, but I think if you do and use the new Wardrobe add on, you'll find if gives a VERY good screen shot and a blank background.

I don't think it's possible to do what you're trying. All UI elements are layered in 2D over the 3D viewport.

Your best bet is to use the dressingroom. Those are actually 3D images rendered to UI textures. If you want to zoom in or out to frame the character better you can use the Profit dressing room.

I would use uncompressed TGA files for best image quality.

would however have been faster than trying to mod the window for 2 hours. And I have to concur, you cannot remove that background by modding the UI. The only option I see is to reduce the view distance to a minimum, that might blend out some of the background and you could take your screenshots in front of that.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

You may have to do that.

It's as Othesus said... the background is a 3D scene, and your character is essentialy rendered on it. All the 2D UI pieces are then layered over top, so any blank UI piece to serve as background would go over the character and eclipse them, not behind them.

Or, here's a suggestion -- either buy, or find yourself a character with all the different petrified eyes. They should be able to change into every playable race then.
