Question Manual "install" Changes?

Excuse me Please:

i seem to recall that EQ2Maps really only makes changes to certain changes to .ini files; which of course, those .ini files "tell" eq2.exe where to look to display the various bits on the in-game map.

May I ask the exact list of the various text files changed/created to a default/new eq2 install
and
what information is expected within each those .ini text files?

I Appreciate any assistance!

Thank You Jnils;
question: is this file created by the eq2maps application?

I am assisting in the further research of EQ2 on Linux / Steam, here, the implementation of eq2maps for EQ2.
also, the default directory for EQ2 under Steam is:
/home/%USERNAME%/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/EverQuest 2/

In having made use of eq2maps on a win7 system, might I question what the use/purpose is of eq2map.ini file?

as its couple lines of text are very similar, with the exception of actually pointing to the (win7) eq2\eq2maps directory, text.xml.

Thank You again for the further assistance!

If a custom UI is missing its created.
It don't need to be EQ2MAP.

as i have been using EQ2Maps(formerly on win7) for so many years, I have long-forgotten any subtle details of the initial install or any problems encountered or their resolution.

So then, if I may ask in light of the implementation of eq2maps on a "plain vanilla" default Linux-environed EQ2:

what, beyond the eq2.ini would be needed to assure eq2 displayed the updated in-game map?

Would these be the steps:

1. create EQ2MAP directory within EverQuest II directory containing contents of EQ2MAP_V2_090814.zip [is there a more recent update of the manual-only maps?]

2. create a file named EQ2.ini also within EQ2 directory which contains (just?) the following lines:

cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP

3. ?...

I might expect there may be those whom are well-versed in Linux to be able to make a script(?) or something that could facilitate the above, then-verified steps, which would be of an assist to all those whom use EQ2 under Linux(via Steam, or CrossOver, etc.).

Thank You again for your continued assistance

EQ2MAP directory already exist in the zip, should be placed in the UI directory.
There in a new zip file now that has all the latest changes, don't think the archive from 2014 works to good by now.

Yes, should be enough.

alas, the EQ2.ini and EQ2MAP directory within /home/%USERNAME%/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/EverQuest 2/

does not affect in-game maps.

any ideas?

Lightbulb

Please forgive my lack of clarity on my previous post.
the path I detailed was location on HDD for where Steam places EQ2.

so full path on Linux install correctly stated is:
{separated for clarity}

/ home / %USERNAME% / .steam / debian-installation / steamapps / common / EverQuest 2 / UI / EQ2MAP

no change to eq2.ini file in EverQuest 2 root as shown:

cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP

in-game maps display as expected!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ASSISTANCE!!!
