best pet archetype

hello i was just wondering what would be simler to the beastlord classes as i realy anjoy playing it on the first everquest and would like some thing silmer if some one knows of some thing alike or can sugest some thing simler for eq2 i be best plzed thanks

They have already stated that there will be no equivalent to the Beast Lord of EQ. That is unfortunate in my opinion. Seems you can be a necro or a summoner <magician from EQ Live>. So it would depend on if you want a sack of bones for company or a pile of rocks ha ha

From what I have read the "summoner" class is kind of a cross between the EQ1 mage and beastlord (ie animal type pets).

I dont want to be snobbish about this but lets get one thing straight

First off, to be a necromancer you have to be a summoner first.

Secondly, the final subclass choices down the Mage > Summoner line is Necromancer and Conjurer. Summoner will be the most similar to magicians based on what SOE has released on its magic spells. Necromancers will summon skeletal shadowknights while conjurers seem to be featuring humanoid monsters with monk like abilities.
