Sorry you're having trouble, Piriam. For day-to-day operation you should not have to do any of the things you listed. If you have any other malware/antivirus software running besides Defender, try disabling that just long enough to get updates.
Otherwise open utilitylog.txt (in your DarqUI_v3 folder) and look near the bottom of that file for any clues. Or you can zip and send it to me in a private message here or to darqwood at hotmail dot com -- don't post it in the forums. I'll see if I can figure out what's up.
