Map Mod please!

I run the game at 1600x1200 but even still the map window takes up a lot of real estate on my screen. If someone could figure out a mod that would allow for dynamic resizing I'd be forever grateful.

More specifically have the map smaller by about 50% but have it return to normal size on a mouseover.

Is this even possible?
