Target Ring um right

I found 2 files in the EQ2 ui folder named ring_target.dds, and ring_target_con.dds. I edited them, thinking it would change the target ring, nope.

It seems like thoes two files do just about nothing at all.

If any one knows how to edit the rings please let me know,

yup, alpha layers are exactly the same as the ring, I admit I missed that the first time, but its eactly the same now.

as of the last days of beta it still wasnt working right

Drudging this up again as not to make a new post...

I was attempting to make a target ring but when I went to check it out it did nothing at all.

After checking it out it seems that the game pulls this particular file from the Default folder ONLY and doesnt bother even looking elsewhere. If the file is changed it will patch it when you run the patcher...

I haven't tried making a new one the same size to see if it just checks relative size (doubt it) but I dont know if that is even possible... thoughts?

It's probably using a checksum to determine if it's the right file, not just size (or date, if that had crossed your mind). You could always run EQ2 without the patcher, or run the patcher than copy your grapic (stored elsewhere) over the default folder before hitting play.

not really, I have skiped the patcher, and put it in the custom interface folder

tried, it seems as if the file is hardcoded into eq2.

I even deleted the 2 files and then skipped the patcher and its still there.
