Default How to view the EQ II Interface Pieces!

There is a way to view the EQ 2 interface pieces. And I hope this helps out in making your own custom interfaces. As you probably know, if you go to the "C:\Program FIles\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\Default\Images" folder, you will see a bunch of files with a ".dds" extension. To view these files, you must download the "DirectX 9.0 SDK Update - (October 2004)". It can be found at the following link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/isapi/goms...DisplayLang=en. Just click the "Download" button and save the file to any directory of your choice. If you have dial-up it will take a while to download for it is 218MB. Once you have downloaded the file install the SDK. Once you have installed the SDK, you can either "double left-click" on the files specified in the EQ 2 directory or you can launch the program "DirectX Texture Tool" which is found in the "Start > Program > Microsoft DirectX 9.0 SDK Update (October 2004) > DirectX Utilities". I hope this helps. Have fun viewing the files... (Check out the old EQ 2 Login screen... Ewwwww!)

Moved post to Developer Discussion > DDS/Graphics Modification Help & Info forum. The forum you posted in was a non techincal forum to discuss the interface.

Did you see our sticky http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229 ?

Nvidia has a dds plugin and winxp thumbnail viewer plugin.

The tool you posted is nice if you dont have adobe photoshop or paint shop pro if all you do is want to view them.

For just viewing dds, I like using Irfanview with it's plugin.

There is a .dds plugin built into the UI Builder.

If you have a copy of your entire Default directory and open the eq2ui.xml file in the UI Builder. Find any image object and double click on the zone rec command in the bottom left hand corner. It will pop up the build in DDS View along with tools to help you set the zone rec to the right spots.

Very nifty and hand. I discovered it on accident last night.

It work like the entries that require text, where you have to double click the command to get the text edit box.
