Thanks Q, you are a life saver, I swear I was going nuts!
It was the latter, just simple closed game down.
I deleted that file and also re- installed the Profit UI.
Seems to work, crossing fingers!
ETA: BAH, game still closing
UPDATE: I did as:
As someone posted on EQ2 forums
and after 2 hours of play it seems to have worked... /cast ward against jinx
Basicly I deleted all server_char_eq2_uisettings.ini.

Here's the Fix!!It's your characters UI that has gone bad that is causing crashes (if they are happening on quest journal updates and occasionaly when you zone) Why the UI went bad I don't know. Some quests may cause it, or...who knows.
Go to your EQ2 folder and delete that characters UI (it will look something like <servername><character name>.UI I forget exactly) . When you log back and are given an option to load another character's UI, I would suggest you NOT do that and instead make a new one from scratch. It might take 5-15 minutes of work to get your UI set back up the way you want it, but after doing this on my character(s) I have not recieved a single crash.
Once I deleted and remade one character's UI, I used that UI as the base to replace any other character having the problem. I would suggest deleting every character's UI before loading the new one because it might be the file itself that is corrupt and loading another character's UI will not delete the file, just change some of it's contents.
I hope this helps.
