Default Installing ProfitUI Community Edition

Since this is a whole new spin of ProfitUI, the new utility will install the UI into a new folder called ProfitUI_CE. It will not delete your old ProfitUI folder. I have deliberately made that a separate step.

Once you have downloaded the new utility, I suggest the following:
* If you have customized any files that are not included in the regular build, copy those off to a safe place. The release notes list what's included and what's not.
* Remove ProfitUI. I have written a small script to do this or you can do it manually. If you want to use the script, download Nuke_Profit.BAT and run it from your EQ2 folder.
* Drop a copy of the new ProfitUI CE utility into the UI folder for the EQ2 installation you want to update. If you have a Test or Beta installation, each of those will need its own copy of the utility in its UI folder.
* Run the utility to install ProfitUI Community Edition (and EQ2MAP if you use that.) Again, if you have Test or Beta setups, run the utility from the corresponding UI folders.
* Restore your personal customizations. Don't forget to mark those files in the manifest so the utility will ignore them.

You're now good to go.

Update 2016-05-09: New version of ProfitUI CE Utility. Release notes:
ProfitUI Community Edition Utility v1.0.0.1

* Closing the utility while minimized no longer results in the window being permanently hidden
* The "classic" ProfitUI color theme is applied to the UI automatically during first-time setup
* Color themes and custom skins are now applied exclusively from the Themes page of the utility
* Added profit.dds to list of files that can be customized when creating a custom UI skin
* Corrected a visual bug with a textbox on the Settings page
Attached Files
File Type: zip ProfitUI CE Utility.zip (130.4 KB, 2379 views)
File Type: zip Nuke_Profit.zip (422 Bytes, 2062 views)

Should I have a shortcut for this on my desktop?
Will it run when the launcher is started?

I guess I am just confused as to how to get back to it without having to come back here and repulling the zip file.

It looks...normal. Even my personal window looks the way I am accustomed to.

YAY!

So the shortcut to the updater question still remains.

How do I change the themes? Or at least see what they are (storms & fossil)? I have used blue for years too. Oh wait, that is in the updater, which I am not sure how to find again.

I am also testing the Performance module by Aesop. That bit works ok, I did choose to skip the one file that it changed.

So overall? Happy! It works! (other than the part I am very close to nagging about)

Thank you!!

The updater is a free-standing program that can run from just about anywhere. Since it does not need to be installed in the conventional sense, it does not create start menu items or desktop shortcuts. Once you unZIP the program, just put it some place that's convenient for you. You can make shortcuts to it the usual way.

The themes are options in the updater.

Glad you like it. I am *so* happy to be able to do this.

Just pulled it from the zip file again and dropped it on the desktop.

There you go. Glad it worked out for you.

You mentioned "the Performance module by Aesop." I'm not familiar with that. What file does it modify?

Default Screen Resolution Saved Profiles

Was looking for the premade layouts for different resolutions.

Hm. They should be there. There was some discussion about including them, but I thought we came down on the side of making them part of the default setup. Darq, am I remembering correctly?

The user should type /load_uisettings and make a choice from the list. There are 9 ProfitUI profiles, and yes they are downloaded by default.

Hi,

In the profit persona window, there is stat "bleed through" on the construct page. What I mean is, if you click on stats I, stats II, Merc Stats, and Pet stats and then click on construct, you can see the stats of that page behind the image of the construct.

If anyone can fix this, can you please tell me what you did and where? I am trying to make my own persona window, and I am quite far, but I have bleed through of things myself and do not understand what to do to make this stop.

Thanks!

edit: I actually fixed my problem kinda, but I would like to know how you guys in profit do it, if someone doesn't mind telling me.

Default Where can I find resolve?

I installed the new bottom bar from the other thread, that didnt seem to work. I then installed your updater (Thank you by the way) but Im still not finding resolve either on the bottom bar or in my stats window.

I have checked my ini file, it points to profitui_ce
The files in it appear to be up to date

What am I missing?

The bottom bar fix was one of the first fixes posted. I know I checked it and I did see Resolve on the settings window. Please note that the fix applied to both the bottom bar file and the bottom bar settings file. Both files got pushed to the new updater.

I just logged in and checked again. Resolve appears in the third column, in between Noxious and Divider 7. It replaces the obsolete Item Score.

I'm not sure why you are seeing the old settings. Your eq2.ini is pointing to the right place. Is this the first time you're using ProfitUI, or did you update an existing installation? The two bottom bar files should show modified dates of 4-30-2016 or later.

Glad you like it. It is very satisfying to see how many people use ProfitUI and also to know that we can keep it going for the future.

Default Can't Run Profit CE

I downloaded Both Zip files,
File Type: zip Nuke_Profit.zip (422 Bytes, 897 views)
File Type: zip ProfitUI CE Utility.zip (130.4 KB, 1117 views)

Ran the Nuke file from eq2 folder

Next I put the Profit CE Exe. in my EQ2 Folder & ran.

I got a screen that said the folder existed, what do I do now??

If the folder already exists, you should get the utility and not the setup window shown in your screenshot. Try deleting \ProfitUI_CE from your \UI folder and run the setup again. You do not need to run the nuke_profit file again.

Default Can't Run Profit CE

Ok so I removed anything that's said "Profit" from my EQ2 folder, placed on portable hard drive and removed that from PC!

Now thee should be NO "EXISTING" folder!

Again I tried running the CE exe from my EQ2 folder.... same results!

Ran Nuk again and retried, still same result.

wouldn't it have been easier to have just made this an update

Anyway I am at a lost, replacing old Profit so I can play

I re-created your \Users\S.O.E structure and attempted to install ProfitUI_CE into it. Without running as administrator it was a fairly miserable experience and I had to use Task Manager to close the unresponsive app. I realize folks want to be able to name things whatever they want on their own computers. But in your case having a user named S.O.E, which in actuality is probably just a new folder added to the \Users area, is a bit over the line.

Moving your game folder into \Users\Public\S.O.E\EverQuest II would make things much easier all around. Or you could adjust the read/write permissions on your S.O.E user-folder. Or you could run the utility as an administrator. Either way, the utility can't accommodate non-standard, and likely insecure, scenarios such as this one.
