Auto Updater connection timeout...

Most time I use auto updater I get connection timeout getting manifest files.

What's going wrong?

I'm also having a problem with the auto updater. It's very slow in fetching the feature manifests, and I mean taking more than 5 minutes just to get to 80%. It went through, after 4 times of saying the process was cancelled, but it normally only takes about 30 to 60 seconds total.

Thanks for the heads up.
It looks like the webhost had some issues earlier which resulted in the slow connections.
Note: You can just bypass the AutoUpdater and play EQ2 using the main game shortcut when this occurs as all the required files are on your system. (Unless you're installing for the first time)

Thank you for the information.
I must re-install. Have deaktive some plungins, but they are not diesabled and not deleted, the HUD shows allways the same plugins. Something goes wrong.

That only happens when you hit the 'Cancel' button while the updater is running. Perhaps you have the updater to automatically run/update when you start it (in the Advanced section, there is a checkbox to "Check for updates when run") and don't realize it?

Has anybody got this to work I had to reinstall thorUI and I get the cancelled or timedout and I am not hitting anything.

Have you checked your firewalls? (OS, Software, Router, etc...)

This issue is most often spradic and only lasts for an hour or so when it occurs.
Mostly due to the webhost performing site backups and such.

I've tested the connectivity and have not found any issues running the updater on 3 different systems at different locations, therefore I would assume the issue is local and most likely related to a firewall.

My firewall has always worked before and nothing has changed. But if so which port does thorUI AU use and I can make sure it is open for it to work through.

Sorry I was under the impression it hadn't been working before.
I appologize.

Try the "fix it all solution" delete the thorui folder in the UI directory.
My guess is that a feature file may be corrupt and therefore not allowing the autoupdater to overwrite it.

You could also choose to rename the thorui folder to thoruiold if you don't wish to delete the folder.

I have a good feeling that will solve your issue.

I've next problem mit Auto-Updater.
Have allready delete the thorui folder, but Auto-Updater will not download the mainhud_pop. It's selected in the advanced settings.

Is there a link I can get single files directly and not with the little bit bad auto-updater?

There are no files as "mainhud_pop"

Yes, I mean this with zoneteleporter. I see it's allready in my thorui folder, but didn't work. Don't know why.
Any idea?

The solution i've usually seen work is to delete the thorui folder in the EverQuest UU\UI directory.

Since that didn't work, you may wish to repeat that process and also uninstall the ThorUI AU application and manually delete and remaining folders and files.
Then reinstall and reselect your favorite features again.

Let me know what you find.

Have re-installed with AutoUpdater twice, but the AutoUpdater is bad work.
Most time, I've connection errors, time outs and it's slow as hell.

Please, give us a link with all files in zipped incl. updated files. That's faster to download.

I, too, am having these same problems. It will not update and therefore cannot play EQII.

Please don't tell me it's a firewall, anti-virus, or a problem with me canceling. I know for a *fact* it isn't anything to do with me. I've disabled my anti-virus and firewall.

This needs fixed.. Surely you know what's wrong? Eventually I'll get a message that says "Update canceled by an error or user" or something along that line. It isn't us. It's something to do with your server or the auto-update thing. Before the new update I could download just fine. Now I can't. I know for a fact it isn't my fault.

Firstly, you can always play EQ2 no matter what issues you are having with a custom ui.
Just delete the eq2.ini file located in your everquest II directory and that will enable you to play with the default interface.

Now with that said, here's the deal...

There are too many users at times and you are all hammering my web host at the same time trying to get updates.
This causes the connection to time out.
This especially happens when I post lots of new goodies as people will try one then delete it, select another feature then download again, repeating until they have what they like.

We can avoid this by using the "..." buttons next to each feature and choosing your features there rather than downloading them all to try them out.

The other option is for me to upgrade to another provider that offers more bandwidth.
But since the issue only happens sporadically on large update days i don't think it's worth the large expenditure.

My recommendation would be to wait a bit and try to run the auto updater at a later time or delete the eq2.ini file as i noted above.

Note: Nothing in this update would stop you from playing. All changes were minor and were mostly tweaks that I added in, therefore you could bypass the thorui au completely if you needed.
