Default WoW Emulated

I am planning to make a full UI for EQ2 that emulates WOW. Barely started will be a while before I am done. I am still struggling with the basics.
I though you guys might like this splash my wife made for my UI.

Hope i didn't post in the wrong section. Enjoy !

Cool

OK I have gotten all the programs up and running I am in the process of converting all the files into manageable .tga files. Then i will use the editors I have to convert them all to .dds. Then I will assemble the windows that I know I will need.

My wife will be doing the custom load screens, Splash and some logos.

I also have custom music done. Will be changing more of these to Warcraft sounds. I have used music from Horizons, Lineage 2, and everquest 1.

I may need help from you guys as the UI buider still confuses me, understanding heirachy for the files and getting stuff to load in the builder still eludes me.

Sorry I am good at graphics but xml is impossible as of yet.

When I get all the conversions done I may need someone to compile them into the ui. They will be raw like the attached pic. So someone who knows the builder well or someone willing to take the time to explain how i add my new graphics to the UI builder. I can do only so much as my knowledge is limited but I will keep trying till i get a nice UI. Thanks for checking this out more updates to come...

Example bank window , Need to add money icons, text and data.
Player, Group Members, Pet Windows. Need to add text, and data.
( group members use the same frame as the player) pet is the smaller one.
Also need buttons added.) working... after sleep.

You aren't using the actual graphics from WoW are you? I hope you are making it all from scratch or else you open yourself up to lawsuits.

OK sorry to be blunt , but the sourcecode has been released for the graphics and whatever code they use. So how can i get into trouble ? I unpack the files, edit them for size, clarity, run them all through the same filter for a vibrance in color then reassemble them. I use the same UI in WoW which I own an active account to. This is not reverse engineering only using graphics and ideas. It wont look exactly like wow but will be darn hard to tell apart. I have a few ideas how i want this to look. Also others have been using WoW graphics for a long time . Not emulated , but exact graphics.

UI that I use in EQ1
Which I am using but altered so they are to suit my tastes.
http://www.eqinterface.com/downloads...fo.php?id=3796

and from the mouth of the horse..
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...tmp=1#post2619

And to clarify my new UI will look like the newly attached window or very simular... It's a screen of the UI I built in WOW.

Thanks Drago when I get a chance I will post the files, let me get some sleep and do RL things for a few when i get back on this I will post or send you the files I have . Still editing them takes some to to decomplile fix errors, bleeds, and color anomolies. Then running them all through some pretty neat filters.
My wife is in the process of working on the splashes and logos. Will post some files for you to play with tonight.

Well its your choice of course, but I see nothing that says Blizzard has made thier graphics files public domain. Sure they encourage people to build custom UIs for WoW and use thier graphics, but thats for thier own game. I'm fairly certain Blizzard doesn't want people using thier graphics to get people to play a competing game

As for the UI you referenced in EQ, I already knew about it -- and he did not use any original Blizzard graphics in his UI. Many were handmade, others were at least modified by hand to be different. To "simulate" the look of WoW as he put it.

I don't want to get into an argument about it, I just think you are better off making your own graphics that look as close as you can do, rather than simply ripping thier graphics. You could end up getting yourself, and possibly even eq2interface, into a lot of trouble if Blizzard gets mad.

I wouldn't want that to happen , like I said I am modifying them. they aren't exact. Size, color and shape are used.
And the graphics I will be using are from WC3 Screenshots.
(I don't own a copy of this yet, hehe maybe Santa will bring me a copy.)
I change the filters to brighten them.
Place them together , lots of copy paste here.
They are different. Truse me I couldn't stand the basic UI for wow modded it as well you can see it im my screen.

If the moderators see differently I will pull the mod.

Yeah, The UI you modded on WoW is somewhat yours because you made it, put graphics to it, etc., Some people like WoW mod more, and I agree, WoW mod is cool, but hey let us check it out =-P

OK Draco here's what I came up with these are the files I used to put together my window , all copy paste to get the general feel.
I dont know if there is a format or exact locations you need but these are the graphics. attached file, and the thumb is what i plan on it looking like.

Good luck, oh and btw if you wouldnt mind explaining how to add these to the UIbuilder that would be sweet. I know I need to use the date from existing windows to get them to work...or write code ground up which i can't. but I cant even seem to view these what am I doing wrong.
please take a moment if you will and explain how to import custom graphics into the builder.
I think i can figure out how to use the builder after i learn to see what I am doing.

Here is the bottom of the UI. its supposed to cover the enitre width of the screen. the chat windows will fit on both the sides. buff windows are the black ones with gold trim. the arc window is plaer on left, the 2 open areas below are for health and power, same for the other side except the right side window is for target. Buff bars can easily be lined along the top middle wall. allowing room for the HO window the be placed in the center across the grey bricks. here is is see what you can do with it too

yes please the preview is just for reference. use the file i attached it has much better resolution and clarity.i will get more pieces to you soon. I think i have the files converted that i need . building some of the inner frames takes some time. the color is hard to match but im working on the INV next , and the related packs, bank and tradw window. so you will be able to build them from 1 or 2 pics.

thanks for helping me get this together .. maybe ill be able to play eq soon..I just cant play with the default window.

oh btw the brickwall is just a graphic it really doesnt need any functionality. just has to be moveable.

Oh and a will i need to do anything different to have that brickwall stretch across the screen 1600x1200 or do i need different sizes for diff resolutions ?

Ok, im working on the chat right now,You would need a diff size for diff resolutions for brickwall, I don't know if I would beable to stretch it and make a ui peice out of it so it can be moveable or if you need to do the graphic, im pretty sure its all in the xml, i can probably stretch it,it might not loook great though

I have a graphic for brickwall thats 1600x1200 can i copy it to a 1024x1024
in 2 pieces ?

also i can make a seperate graphic that you can use to frame the chat window that can be stretched the blocks may not line up right so i can retexture them let me know we can try both approaches. let me get my kid ready for bed and ill start on it.

Now that i think about it that piece is 1600x1200 width in a 1024x1024 pallet.
i dont know how you piece the windows to gether with xml, i used my grapics editor manually edit it. dont stretch it , the windows wont line up. I will make a new one if the chat boxes are too small but i think thay are the correct size.

The little yellow page in upper right corner is for link to open like emotes i saw that in thorui i dont know if you can put that in but my wife loved that little option. the button beside it is window options the rest is pretty self explaintory.
keep my posted if you need something else i am starting to work on other windows.

PLEASE DO reframe the chat, I am having a horrible time doing the chat, it's only because of the top and bottem part of the outer frame, and I don't know why, it dont know if its the graphics or xml, yes the emotes thing that thorui has i have as a more up to date version

Ok let me know if i can do anything.

those graphics are just randomly placed because they are handmade. so one side wont line up with the other because the locations will be off. I didnt make a chat window fram like i should have i think i know what you need. if you cant get it I know what needs done to help you.

Alright, Ill do it tommarrow, for a whole day from 2 pm to 10:20 pm I only finished 1 thing on the mainchat, I finished the tabs, and I am almost done with the frame, I think their is some minor bug because something keeps screwing up everytime I save, and I do it over and repeat it like 4000 times. I should try to figure it out tommarrow. But yeah doing the tabs was easy, took me 30 min, but this frame thing is bugging me.
