I dont know... must be a reason. I just took a peak at the code and its str_replace()'n them. Must be a reason otherwise that code wouldnt be in there. I'd guess the eq2 interface system doesnt like them or something, but I'm 100% sure its done on purpose because I checked the php code they wrote.
