I have tried it and still have them enabled but they are very buggy in my opinion. For example in one window I have 5 tabs and things end up disappearing from the other tabs and all appear again in the 1st tab. Drives me nuts. Had everything setup to go into different tabs and bam.. All messed up. Same thing happens on my other chat window.
Other issue I see all the time is if I use the Right Arrow to go to a tab I can't see, I lose my first tab. Have to resize the window to get it back.
But the text disappearing has to be the biggest pain in the chat window.
