Please take a look at the very first listing in the
Common Problems thread. You need to run the updater as an admin if your install really is in program files.
If it's not in program files and is in that other directory you indicated, then you do not have your Everquest2.exe file selected properly. Go to options and click the first browse button and then navigate to there to select it.
