I actually use the Mortis hotbar mod and really like it so I would suggest checking that out as well.
There are bag mods that will allow for a 6-slot layout but you will need to continually resize them.
If you simply want a bag mod that doesn't have the fluff and is smaller than the default size then there are several of those available that do actually work.
