I don't see how it could be even messing with eq1 even if it did somehow install it there it would put all the files in a directory called eXtreme and that wouldn't make your eq have to rebuild. Forther more it can't even run eq as it is programed to run everquest2.exe or eq2.exe not everquest.exe or eq.exe. So it is impossible for it to run eq unless you renamed the file names.

Well it could run EQ if you added it to one of the two run additional apps to run.

That is weird. I haven't renamed any files at all but the eq1 patcher started running after the install. I realize it should no be possible but it is exactly what happened. all the Extreme stuff was installed into the EQ2 folder though. I am sure that is what happened because I now have to wait for eq1 to rebuild next time I want to log in. But as far as resolving the issue, I did this: I took all the files in my sony folder and put them in a folder marked eq. then downloaded and set the path to the eqII folder and it was successful. burying those files in a folder is the only change I made but it worked fine. Thanks for the help.
