that is really a tricky question you're asking, you have to consider that Oblivion's engine is ment for a single player. So in many respects the TES:4 engine is far better and prettier than EQ2's, however if it were to be used in a MMO like EQ2 the devs would have to tone it down and reduce CPU useage to allow for other MMO information to be processed more quickly.

Keep in mind I have complex lighting turned off and texture details on medium, I will try and get a high deff screenshot taken soon, but SETI doesn't like to give up too much proc power ( btw the game runs smooth even with programs like SETI in the background )
