RAM is a MAJOR factor in zone time. Less RAM = longer zone times.

Wife runs XP with 512 RAM and it takes her 2-3x longer to zone than me with 768 RAM and we're on the same connection. Her processor is even faster (by alot) than mine, so its all about the RAM.

Your connection speed is also a factor, but less so than RAM. Most of the zone resources are loaded off disk.

BTW, you'll crash less with more RAM. 1 gig is recomended, more is better.

Another little tip... right-click "My Computer" and select Properties. From the Advanced tab, click "Performance Options" then "Change" and set the initial and maximum page size amount to whatever is listed as "Recommended". Should free up some system resources.

You should also close ANY un-needed apps and services, especially IE and IIS.

Last but not least, run adware/spyware and virus scans regularly. They often rob you of RAM, and at 512 you'll need it all for EQ2.
