TextPad may not put in line breaks that Notepad is able to recognize, but it's certainly not "throwing away" any line breaks. Files are still formatted perfectly when loaded back into TextPad, and work just as they're supposed to in the game. (XML files are read correctly, and data files are displayed correctly.) So I'm afraid I really don't see any problem, other than that Notepad's deficient.
