Hello, I'm rather new to using custom UIs and I apologize beforehand if a solution to this predicament has been posted before.
I just downloaded the Fetish Nightfall UI today and was delighted at first until... I saw that my friend list was blank? Please, what is the remedy for this blooper? Since I'm not guilded in-game it's rather hard for me to find help with a long involving quest and such and I recently managed to grab onto a few people to do the Froglok quest with me but they weren't ready at the time. Now I can't see when or if they're even online right this moment - well actually I could but it's a waste of time individually searching for each person on player search.
Any heads-up on this situation will be graciously appreciated.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that not only is my friend list blank but I also can't add the names back to the list. My own attempt to cure the problem resulted in failure. I don't know how the eq2.ini file looked like before I modified it as the Read Me file instructed but I tried to get back the default UI by changing it to:
cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname Default
Is that correct? (Could someone paste what the eq2.ini file contains on default without any tweaks?) Well regardless of whether it's correct or not I relogged and got the old UI back - well, what looked like the default UI. But when I was in the game-world again my friend list had the same problem now as with the custom UI.
What is going on here?
EDIT 2: I switched onto the Fetish UI again and now noticed I can't check the mail kiosk, I double-click and no window pops up and I can no longer click on the kiosk thereafter. Would a reinstallation of the game get my friend list back and other errors fixed? I could supply pictures but I doubt they'd actually help with solving the problem. This is really putting me off modifying the normal UI now, no matter how useful an add-on may be.
Oh, I should mention that I didn't download just this today, I also downloaded the EQ2MAP and its updater and also the Quest Journal Window Mod.
I'm probably doing something wrong, but nonetheless this experience is causing me needless grief.
EDIT 3: I downloaded the generic character settings file thing which was recommended for solving some UI problems but it didn't seem to work for me, friend list is still blank.
Everything I do just seems to screw up my game even more...
I best just not do anything until I get a sure-fire solution.
EDIT 4: Well, my complaint may actually turn out to be invalid here. It turns out that my close friend who has never touched a custom interface has also lost his friend list which he discovered when he logged in today - same as me, I had my friend list yesterday but since I tried out the UI before I logged in today I pinned down all the blame down on it. I do so thoroughly apologize for bawling on this thread about a problem that has nothing to do with this custom interface. Looks like I have a bug report to SOE...
