1) Don't rightly know, so I won't answer that one.

2) What format of DDS are you saving under? You need to make sure you have an alpha channel: DXT1a, DXT3, DXT5 all use alpha's. I save everything in DXT3 format personally. Also, because there is a seperate layer/channel for DDS that handles transparency. Photoshop kinda just *includes* a background for DDS files even though there really isnt one. So, of you do it right, you will maintain transparency, even though it may not look like it.

3) Yes, I believe there is a way. I don't have any personal experience. I would direct you to Zonx because he's fiddled with the loadscreens
