FYI, Eloa has been working on a quest db since before the EQ2MAP project started. Says the code is mostly done. Not sure how much quest info is in it though.
I'm seriously considering doing something myself, problem is I don't want to step on anyone's toes. Also not thrilled about the idea of competeing with something directly hooked into EQ2MAP's POI system.
I have an idea I'm gonna float to the EQ2MAP team that could allow support for multiple POI linked systems. If it flies, I'll probably start working on a system to support both in-game and web based quest and NPC info interfaces. Possibly include support for items.
Limitations on the EQ2 UI will probably prevent advanced searching, but I'd expect the website to have a robust search feature capable of listing all:
- Quests related to an NPC
- NPCs related to a quest
- Quests starting in a particular zone
- Quests involving a particular zone
- Quests of a particular Level (range)
- Quests by type (cattalog, kill, collect, craft, etc.)
- Reward Type
- Effort Vs. Reward rating
- Combinations of the above.
I'd also include separate search widgets for NPCs and Items.
