Have you seen someone do this firsthand? Because here's the problem:
Macros are stored in your characters file on the server.
The only way to edit macros is in-game (no file to edit out of game).
You can't force an item link into the macro window.
What this means is you'd have to edit EQ2's active memory and force the item link format (with %T for target) into a macro window edit box. This is against the EULA (aka if a GM found out you had to edit your macro this way, you could get suspended or banned).
If you haven't seen someone do this firthand, it's probably because it can't be done; if you have actually seen someone do this (I haven't) they're likely doing something that's against the rules to make it happen.
