Filter for broker search on collectables?

Anyone know if there is a UI that lets you search collectables on broker based off of if you have the item already or not?

When I mouse over a collectable on the broker it says I have it already so would be nice to tell it to not show those you have already. Paging through a few thousand pages looking for ones you don't have yet is a royal pain.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing at this time.

All I can say is /feedback it and hope that when they recover from expansion-release syndrome they get to it, hehe.

This would definitely be a cool feature, but the impact on server performance doing this type of search could be pretty huge. Its not that we don't like the idea because I'd love to have this myself. The key is finding a way to implement it that won't bring servers to their knees when everyone uses this feature.

Easily, take the collections tab on the question journal and make the collectible icons that you don't have (they are already greyed out) clickable such that they input their name into the market window search box. I tried to mod that a while ago but don't remember why I failed (I could not grab the name I suppose).

That way searches are only on a single item basis having no impact on server performance but searching would be still much easier than currently.

Yeah, that would certainly be a solution that should work with the existing server code. But I know many people would like to see a search that shows them every collectible they don't already have in a single search, so buying the cheap ones would be easy.

Also, this method would really only work for collection quests you've already started, so new characters would have a harder time finding collectibles.

So what was keeping you from implementing this feature currently? I'm sure its something that could be fixed and would be a great addition to the custom UI's out there.

Agreed.

A "show all" button on the collections tab would solve that. But you may consider that a spoiler.

I'll look at it again and let you know. :)

Hmm...

What about making the names clickable and having it search for every item in that collection that you don't have. Since all you're doing is essentially an aggregated search (a search for each name then combined) it shouldn't be too much server overload.

Well, for an 18 bone collection that's still 18 searches fired off with one mouse click.

gm9 11-14-2007 02:53 AM

Well, at least that's exactly what I had proposed as an interim idea as well. I sent Rothgar a PM with why we currently cannot mod it.

In Game Update 41 you will be able to click an icon in a collection quest to submit a broker search for it.

They need to do a dev spotlight on you Rothgar because not only are you a rockstar, you are amazing!

thanks

Haha, thanks for the compliment. :p Actually Mimochi did do an interview with me last month. It was my first dev diary since I started working at SOE last year.

Oh, cool! I remember that interview now. It says Greg Spence but not "Rothgar."

I don't know how difficult it would be but people in the forums ask for a "Hide Completed" checkbox for the collections too. The list gets really, really long when there are so many collections and book pages. Anyway, you've probably seen it in feedback somewhere but I thought I would bring it up if you have some free time. :D

SOE-Rothgar 11-19-2007 02:56 AM

Thanks for mentioning it. I have seen it suggested before, and I agree it would be nice. I'll add it on Monday and see if I can get it in before GU41 cutoff.
