Windows moving loc when alt-enter or relog.

It seems to me that some of my windows that are positioned near the edge of where the widescreen border is will move inward about 10 pixels whenever you ALT-ENTER or re-log. This only happens to those windows that are near the widscreen border and near the edge of the whole screen.

Does anyone know of a fix? Or can someone look into it and figure out a fix maybe? It's not a big deal really, but its just a little annoying. If need I can try and post a screenshot.

I have the same "problem"... And as the above... It's not important but it truly is annoying...

Resolution

Curious; is your in-game full screen resolution higher than your actual desktop windows resoultion?

My game res is the same as my desktop.

That makes sense if its happening when you alt-enter since the game window now has a frame around it, and about 10 pixels also sounds right.

Yeah I can see the windowed thing, Sometimes 1 of my hot bar (which is close to side of screen, moves a few pixels to the left all the time, and I'm constantly re-aligning it.

You would think it would happen to all windows that touch the edge of the screen, but only the windows near the widescreen line move. Yet not all of them do... only the windows that seem to be small in height. Like about the height of the hot key bar or less. I also notice that if you fiddle with the widescreen size, the windows near it will stick to it and move also. So this somehow must be linked to this minor annoyance.

Even with the option of Allowing Windows Off Screen turned on doesn't make a difference

Here ya go.

The default attachment is set in the UI skin. Once a window is moved, it become attached to the nearest point above and will retain its offset to this point if the resolution changes.

Personally, I just play in Windowed mode all the time. I've got my taskbar positioned so it cover's the EQ2 window's frame. The framerate loss is insignificant.

redjackal 01-06-2005 08:19 AM

ya, but when you log, where does resolution change? it doesn't.

Drumstix42 01-06-2005 02:34 PM

yeah, but in windowed mode the border takes up a few pixels.

In this coming patch though, it says UI's will save their configs more appropriately.

Deathbane27 01-06-2005 03:24 PM

Actually, I have the window stretched and positioned such that there's only 3 pixels of the window border showing at the top. The rest is off-screen.

Yeah, that's the point. It avoids the problem of the windows moving around.

But in full screen mode they still move even when you don't use alt-enter. That's why I said it happens whenever you log as well. So then I'm just confused as to why they move when resolution has indeed not changed (regarding the data you posted from that file).
