Auto Attack?
Is there any way (command) that will allow auto attack? In EQ1, the command /assist on/off would allow you to automatically attack the mob of the one you assisted. I find not being able to do this a major inconvenience since I mainly duo with my partner and frequently, in the heat of battle, discover that I'm not meleeing (cause I forgot to hit Melee Attack when mob changed) even though I assisted him. I tried making a macro button but with my less than meager knowledge, it didn't work. If there is a way to do this, I would very much appreciate knowing how.
Thanks  ~Skarlett |
Target that person, and then hit attack. Whatever they are attacking, you will attack, and if they switch, so will you. No need to use /assist at all really.

There is reason to use the /assist command when you decide on a Main Assist.
I use the macro - /assist "place name of player here" - to be able to attack the right target without having to hit any F1-F6 key in advance. This might just be me that have an easier time to hit my number-keys than the F-keys to fill the same function but I still think there's more people out there that will agree with me. I'm glad, however, you do not start attacking immediately when doing the /assist command since that can screw up crowd control in general. I mapped my autoattack to the "~" key so I can hit it at any time without even thinking about it. |
Instead of - /assist "place name of player here" - you can use - /target "place name of player here" ; then hit autoattack key(depends on what you have mapped) - I believe that the second part works.... you will automatically attack whatever target has targeted and switch along with MA... not sure of a command that does same thing.

/assist
You can also just macro "/assist" and it will then target your targets target. :)
Highlight your tank, use your /assit and it will target the gnoll that needs to be beat up on. As for having it then turn autoattack on.. I'm not 100% sure on that. :( |

the macro would read "/assist ; attack" no quotations, and no / on the second command. This may change after the "big patch" ________ Volcano vaporizers |
Try?
": ; assist ; toggleautoattack"
Saw this somehwere else; don't know if it works. Target your tank, or whatever and hit this. It sohuld target the creature they are targetting and then start attacking. I don't know if the /attack is a valid command, but hopefully 1 of them will work! |

The harder the area you fight in the bigger deal this scenario can become. Going to have to start teaching people in my groups not to use this method of autoattacking. I'll get the mobs attention with a few taunts then target myself. |
#1
Everyone in group should at all time keep MAIN TANK targeted when performing any hostile actions toward the mobs engaged. If you nuke or attack, keep this main tank targeted.. end of story lol. #2 So now turn on attack (~ is my favorite) and it won't turn off until you tell it to. If you have mob targeted, attack turns itself off when mob dies and this solution solves that as well as other negative group events regarding targeting :) |

This is exactly why you need to use the /assist "Main Assist (MA) name here" since in tight situations the entire Groups/Raids survival might depend on the Tank keeping aggro and Enchanters doing Crowd Control (CC). These methods have been trialled&errored in EQ for years and the combat system "within" a group/raid do not deviate much from EQ. I haven't tried the /turnautoattack on/off command when I write this but I sure will when I get back home after work today. |
I've spent a good bit of time with macros, so here goes:
Autoattack on = /autoattack on Autoattack off = /autoattack off For a single line macro (which, btw, still work): "/: ; assist Tank ; autoattack on" (without quotes). For the new macro system, line 1: "/assist Tank" and for line 2: "/autoattack on" Just remember to switch attack off afterwords. I haven't found a command yet that does the assist/attack on its own. Personally, I don't use my assist macros often (unless in a big fight with my Assassin, where I need to know exactly where a mob is), I normally target the tank and keep attack on for the fight. Works the same. For those that haven't tried, /assist Name will assist that name. A toggle command for attacking won't be reliable. And no, I haven't found the range attack command yet. I'll hunt it down if I have some free time tonight. EDIT: Typo. |
In EQ1 there was the command /assist on and /assist off which would toggle wheter you would auto attack after assisting or not. I'm not sure if it's in EQ2. Though I always had it off because of crowd control.
