Learning customization from the ground up
I want to make a custom UI.
I've read the help .doc that has been added to the UIbuilder.zip file. I am just as lost as I was before I read it. I've sat down and tried to "muddle through" and just learn by toying with stuff in the UI builder. I am slightly less lost, but nowhere near able to do what I want to do. I therefore intend to document all my newbie questions and make a FAQ / walkthrough of how to make a very simple custom UI. I was wondering, therefore, if this was the appropriate place to ask such newbie questions, and try to get an answer from experienced and talented users, rather than trying to muddle through on my own. Please lemme know; I've decided to just go for it. :) |
The best beginner guide for using the UIBuilder is this post:
http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/showthread.php?t=858 The only thing I would change is-- you only need to copy eq2ui.xml to your custom folder. You don't need to copy everything. Other than that, just start with a simple window and try a small change. The documentation for the UIBuilder is really poor but you can find the answers to most things by searching the forums here. |

The UIBuilder comes with a file called EQ2_UI_Customization.doc and tonyis3l33t wrote the beginner's guide called Phipps.doc. Which file are you talking about?
