Invite player from chat w/o typing his name
 

One very common situation - somebody with a name like "rattttsliIt" asks you to join a group, and you start typing "/inv ratttslIIt " to see a message that player cant be found.. so you starting to count how many letters 't' after a and is it I or L after s..

There is very convinient popup window in chat, when you click on player's name. It has 'tell', 'who', 'toggle friend' options etc. Why there is no so obvious option as 'invite' ? and is there any way to implement it ?

No, those contextual menus are generated by the client. Press the "R" key to reply but then delete or backspace out "reply" and type "invite"

^^^ What Othesus said. :) I use that method all the time when I report plat sellers with their stupid Lovecraftian names. :p

invite, inspect, beat with a stick, are all good options i'd like to see added.

My current method for inviting people after receiving a tell is to "r" for reply which gives me "/tell soandso ".
I then just use the ol arrow keys to get back to the /tell and change it to /invite.

But yes, I agree and would also like to see that as an option.

If their name appears in your chat window anywhere, you can click or right-click on their name to get a context menu, and "Invite" may be an option there.

I've soloed for so long, I can't remember. :p

You can even left click, but yeah, the options are already there (except "beat with a stick" :p)

I was almost sure that this is hardcoded. But curious how others handle such situations - I didnt know about reply shortcut :( ), That good as temporary solution but would be nice to see it implemented by SOE.

Think we can /petition to have that one added...?

I only have the following when clicking there name in the chat window.
Who
Toggle Friends list
Toggle Ignore
Tell

But If we can convince Zonx he might be able to get it done for us. :D

Oh ok, you are right, if people in chat are not in your zone, you get:

• Who
• Toggle Friends list
• Toggle Ignore
• Tell

If they are in your zone, you get:

• tell
• add to friends list
• add to ignore list
• assist
• inspect
• invite to group
• invite to raid
• trade
• who

Looks like an oversight that inspectinvite is not in the upper list. And while Zonx asks for this, he could tell them to make the not-in-zone menu use the add/remove friends/ignore list instead of "toggle".

Edit to add: I sent a /bug on this. On a serious note I wonder if we should just start sending emails or PMs to devs as well to escalate things. I always used /bug or /feedback so far. Only one way to find out I guess...

That may just be left over from when you had to be in the same zone to invite someone to a group or raid.

Um, how would you inspect someone if they weren't even in your zone?

gm9, do we have the same client ? lol .. I just checked , my chat optons the same doesnt matter is the person in same zone or not.. all this long nice menu :

inspect
invite to group
invite to raid
trade

pops up upon the right click on the person itself, you cant get it from the chat window.

How can you right click them if they are not in your zone?

Anyway on some peeps I got the long window and on some I did not. Those that had the long where in zone, the other's weren't. Maybe there were other factors at play that decided on which menu we get, I just pointed to the one I saw while quickly checking this before heading off to work, and it seemed consistent. I clicked on the names in the chat window.

Just noticed that you playing on runnyeye, and this european server so there could be not the same client program .
I cant get long list by clicking on name in chat at all.

Also works on US servers. Maybe not on the russian server, that's the only one I can't seem to log into.
