Idea for A "follow" map setup.

I've been thinking how much i would LOVE to have a map system that FOLLOWS the players movements. so i thought about doing the following.

Instead of having the static player arrow move along the main map. couldnt you switch first the image for the arrow and the Map. and then switch layer priority of the Arrow and map. so what you end up with is a static arrow. and a Map graphic that moves and turns as the player does.

I have not looked into the code of this but might give it a whirl later on.

This would ofcourse only really be useful for a minimap system. without POI! (unless the POI where edited ONTO the Map image to being with). could make an interesting little Compass Mod Though.

Not possible with what is currently available to a UI modder. We could probably swap the Arrow image for the appropriate map image but the rotation would be backwards. Also I don't think we could get the various POI layers to rotated and move along with the map.

Even if this were possible, I suspect it would produce some nasty lag.

Mmm i knew the POI thing woudlnt work. but dont care much about that really. since all i wanted is a replacement for the COmpass, im a very visual person and get LOST so easy. figured. HEY having a tiny window maybe 30x30 pixels would give enough of a heads up to tell you which fork to take.

I mean id even settle for a NON rotating version. if that were possible. just so long as the MAP did follow the player automatically.

The rotation things does kinda suck though. :/.

oh well. /begEQ2Teamforfeature time i gues
