Question about modifying text in a window

Howdy folks. I'm new around here, and yes, I DID try searching and reading readme's, but I'm still having some trouble. Namely, I'm not sure if what I'd like to do is possible.

First, is there a way to highlight specific words in a chat window? Like, if I wanted "danger" to be red, but all other words black, can that be done?

Second, if it _can_ be done, can it be made to be "generic" such that if I pass a file or something it will turn all words that match a word in the file red?

Third, is there any way to incorporate a user-defined plugin that doesn't effect gameplay per se? I know this sounds a bit sketchy, but basically if the above metrics aren't built in somehow, is there a way that, using xml, we could tell the everquest engine to run some external executable or script with string input parameters such that it returns a string we could then display in the chat window (or some other window)?

I know these questions involve are a little bit more than interface issues, but I don't really know where to ask them, or if there's a better forum to ask such questions. Many thanks!

If you ask regarding the chat window, then the answer is no, there is no way of modifying the contents of that window in the way you ask and any conceivable "plugin" doing that would need to modify the eq2 process in a way that it would most certainly be considered a bannable offense.

What we can do with the UI inside it's own language is very limited, and sadly none of what you've asked is currently possible.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback! I figured it was a stretch, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask.
