How do these folks get paid?
 

I use EQ2maps all the time. I'd be lost without it, no pun intended. Likely I would not even play eq2 without such nice maps. So...nobody has ever asked for money. I'd gladly pay for something I find so useful. In fact, as a software developer myself, I hate the idea of someone working this hard and not getting paid for their fine work. So is there a paypal button somewhere so I can show my appreciation in a more tangible way?

No, I am not interested in 'giving away' my money. I am interested in compensating someone who provides an excellent service that I use often.

EQ2Maps is a community project, so there isn't any one person to donate to. Most of the orignial dev team has long since retired from modding. I believe Dobly and I are the only folks still regualrly active, but newer people contribute regularly.

Technically the site itself is now owned by the oGamming network, so you could donate to them to help ofset their hosting fees /shrug

Insted why not make a donation to a childrens hospital that is in need of support or maybe even your local comunity center for kids to help towards buying some or help upgrade the gaming systems they have or need ?

OGaming is now owned by IGE, so I wouldn't feel the need to give them any of my money.

If you really want to give back, pick a zone that doesn't have a map already, and get cracking!

That (and the major lack of "updation") is one of the reasons I now use (and try to contribute to) www.eq2i.com instead of going to OGaming.

I know this site is still part of that network, but theres nothing else like this site in my mind =)
