UI related restriction or hard coded?
Hi Everyone,
Posted a similar message yesterday but it was a bit short. For me this is probably the worst thing that could happen, due to the nature of my job and play times, I do need the ability to make the EQ2 Game Window as small or large as required. As of update 29/EoF, playing in a window, it doesn't want to let me make the window any smaller than 1024x768 (on a desktop resolution of 1680x1050). As a result, I can't shrink the EQ2 Window to just under 1/4 of the screen size (I have Visual Studio open on half the screen). All I'm wondering is, is this something that can be "fixed" by altering some settings, or have SoE decided to hard code a restriction into the .exe? If I set my desktop resolution to 1024x768, I can make the EQ2 Game Window as small as I want it to be, but this defeats the whole point of having a higher resolution set. Really, any pointers anyone could give me would be appreciated. Thanks for reading, and I apologise in advance for sort of re-posting this question, but I've been chasing my tail on this all day long with little success  |
The XML coded minimume size for the default UI is 800 x 600.
Its pssible SOE changed windowed mode so that it can only be resized via the game options resolution setting, or that the client itself now has a minimum size not taken from XML. Servers are down, so I can't check this atm. |
Thanks for looking - if I can get it to 800 x 600 on a resolution of 1680 x 1050, while being slightly over 1/4 of the screen, I can manage with that - as it is, I can't get it under 1024 x 768 and I'm not sure I understand what's "stopping" it from going any lower.

Open up eq2_resents.ini(sp) and you will find options for eq2_width and height for windowed mode ( I can't recall the exact command text). set them to the desired res and it should work.
I was able to resize my eq2 window by dragging the border of using the min/max controller last night while looking up quest and other junk. Granted I didn't look notice what the smallest size was. My destkop res is 1600 x 1024. Just an FYI. |
