creating new images for reference

Hi. I want to thank all the designers and people who contribute to this forum. Nice job.

My question is this, I have the desire to change many of the images that show repetition in the game to something that can actually be recognized as individual. Example...a Lizard Claw will no longer look like a green tea leaf. I am running into the problem with being able to access and edit the .dds files that I found in my EQ2 directory. I can preview them great with the downloaded patch that I found on this forum. I have installed all the Nvidia products I found here as well but still cannot open them with Photoshop CS.

I also have the problem of only seeing one file for each set of icons. They are name specific so I am wondering how, if I am to make a new set of icons, I would reference these in the game without major coding.

So my question first I guess is...is this dream possible? Or does it already exist? Thanks.

The items look the same because the game references the same graphic for them. And that's not something a UI coder can change. You can change the picture, but you can't change the fact that various items will all use that same picture. Sorry.
