Game options,Please help!

I posted this last night on the eq2 forums and I guess no one can help because 0 people have responded. I hope someone here can help me because Im just about sick of messing with things.

Ok I was playing last night and twice the hotbar tooltips got in my way and got me killed and so I went into the options menu just to get rid of them and as I was going through them to figure out which one was what I needed I accidently had the game reset everything to defaults!

I lost among other things. all my font sizes, my game colors, and my chat colors, I spent an hour trying to get them back but they just are not right, is there a file somewhere on my computer that I can replace with a copy of all my old settings? (I have the game on 2 computers and I am hoping I can just scam a copy of the file from the other system) or am I doomed to more time trying to regain what it has taken me over a yr to get just the way I like it?

Thanks in advance for any help or guidence on this.

copy the servername_charactername_eq2_uisettings.ini from the everquest2 folder on the computer that has the proper settings to the everquest2 folder thats messed up.

To my knowledge there are 3 files that you can change settings in

eq2.ini : only the user adds commands to this file, the game does not touch it.

eq2_recent.ini : this is where the game saves some of the settings you set in option's.

<server>_<char>_eq2_uisettings.ini : this is encrypted so its not really any good to you.

A lot of settings are saved server side for some dumb reason or in some file we don't know about. If your eq2_recent.ini file from your other computer does not bail you out, I am afraid you are just SOL my friend.

Fonts/colors/etc are all stored in the uisettings file, not the other two.

If you have an alt with similar settings, you can use /load_uisettings to import that, otherwise you are completely out of luck.

Thanks for trying to help me out there guys, Sadly though I was (AM) out of luck, becuse the ui settings from the other system just changed placement and whatnot. it did not return my text etc the way I had it.

but the good news is, with the exception of the blasted tooltips still in my way unless I turn them completely off, I think I have things at acceptable settings (for now anyway)

thanks a bunch guys!

Now about custom interfaces...
hehehehe will make a different post for that!
