[added] Den of the Devourer
1 Attachment(s)
With some help (and patience) from my guildies I have been able to map the Den of the Devourer and the Halls of Fate. However, I'm still a newb when it comes to how to make this map actually work with the eq2map... Like how to get those zone-rec(?) you need, and how to get it to work in-game in eq2, and stuff like that... So, if anyone would be able to tell me a little clearer how to do it it would be very much appreciated :) Or if someone else wants to do it I can post the log files, the created .dds file and some other stuff. At the moment I just attached a .jpg file so you can get an idea how this zone looks like :)
Would love to be able to make the image prettier and more colorful, but guess I need to learn how to use this image program a little better :D I'm at the same stage with Halls of Fate, however, one little problem I bumped into there was the starting area is right above a little of the later area, so would need to learn how to split a map up, kind of like how the Nek Castle basement was done (I love that one :)) or something... Anyway, any help or pointers are appreciated :) Please :) Edit: Err... Read the stickies :o and I think I should be able to get the zonerect now, I think... But would the internal map name, a .dds file, and the zonerect be enough information to work with? Or what else would be needed? |
Very nice :)

Zonerect would be great, if you need help post the logfile. DDS is not required either as thats something easy I can convert it too. We do need the internal zone name though. SOE added something new, you can put the following line in your eq2.ini and then the internal zone names will show up in your chat box....
show_map_style_name 1 Splitting maps is a little more difficult, SaintPeter has always done a wonderful job when hes done this. Hopefully he might share some of his secrets. Basicly the avaiblerect is what allows you to switch maps on a horizontal plane. The side you zone into would be internal_zone_name_0 the other side would be internal_zone_name_1, etc. Multiple level maps are fairly easy. They use the heightmin/max and the map will switch to what ever map is in the z-axis range of the heightmin/max numbers. |

This does look nice.
If you can post your log file, I can whip up a map really quick. I'd also like some screenshots of the floor, if I could get 'em, but I can do a quick'n dirty map too. |
Zone erect
Went in and grabbed the extreme edge locs for the zone and calculated them against their place on map coordinates, came up with:
-17, -133, 377, 323 |
zone erect verified
Finally got a change to go in and check and this erect works fine
<ImageStyle Name="exp02_dun_halls_of_fate_epic02_devourer" zonerect="-17, -133, 377, 323" > <ImageFrame Name="imageFrame" Source="images/maps/map_exp02_dun_halls_of_fate_epic02_devourer.dds" SourceRect="0,0,436,506"/> </ImageStyle> |
Since you must have a DDS file to have tested your map, why not post it, so we can just check it in?
