Icons for Macros

I would like to have more icons for macros. I have created a few macro commands such as /petname /useability.... /useability.

The icons are very limited. You can choose only those available for emotes. Are there more available here?

Thank you. :)

I guess I should have looked at other notes before posting this request. Sorry for duplication of threads. But perhaps it will emphasize the need for more icons for macros.

You can replace the macro icons with spell icons, but it requires editing the macro icon file. You copy/paste from all the spell icon files to put together your spell icon, then replace the one in the macro file.

I have been looking for somethig like that aswell, i looked into my eq2 files and i could not loc. were in the eq2 program files that my macro file's are. can you help me out there a bit more, also is there a way i can change my battle music with one of mine own mp3s ?

ie: fighting i want to replace the current music with drowning pools song let the bodies hit the floor !
you can leave me a e-mail at [email protected] if you like

The macro icons are pulled from icon_ms1.dds

If you edit the images in there, they will be used instead of normal (Note: replace the file in your custom UI folder, not default, or the launcher will replace it)

Also note that other things such as "Follow" or "Yell for Help" use some of the icons, so be careful what you swap, or you'll end up with those looking like spells :)

Edit: as for music, make a "custom_music" folder in the eq2 folder, then a "Zones" in there - drop some mp3s in that are named like the ones in Music, and voila, instant music replacement :)

I found this thread recently and I am interested in editing my macro file, however I am a total newbie to file editing and I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers.

I found icon_ms.1dds file but I cant open it. Is there some other program or method necessary to do this?

Secondly, where are the spell icons stored? Icons folder contains few types of files :
icon_as.#dds
icon_is.#dds
icon_ms.#dds
icon_os.#dds
icon_ss.#dds

If _ms refers to macro icon I would think _ss refers to spells. I have 21 of them and I cant open any. Which one is the one i am looking for?

Sorry if this sounds lame, but I am really confused. Any help would be appriciated.
Thanks.

Photoshop with the DDS plug-in (look for a sticky or announce in the form on graphics / DDS modification here) should be able to open it.

If you don't have photoshop (and its a shame, such a great tool), I think there are some converters that will let you go from DDS to say PNG, which you can edit, and then back to DDS.

my imageviewer, IrfanView can view dds files just fine... and like lord ebon above me said, photoshop with the dds plugin is a must... i don't know of any image editor better than this.

Thanks guys :)

I downloaded IrfanView and I can finally 'see' my icons. No photoshop for me though. Its definately a cool tool but a pricy one. My already patched student wallet cant hande it atm.

Thanks for the tips though. I will be looking out for another editor I can put my hands on.

i didn't pay for photoshop.... ;) you could try GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), as it is both free and gratis. there are DDS plugins for it.
