in-game images
Hi everyone. I have to say thanks first for all the great UI mods that are hosted here. Golf clap to everyone involved in any mod. I personally use ThorUI with a few other tweaks.
Anyway, to my question. I am wanting to know if there is a way to find and edit the images that are in game? I actually want to use them for a project of mine on another UI update...my first. However, I do not know how to get to the images or how to edit them. Is it as simple as extract a bunch of images from some dat file and editing in photoshop or corel or is it hard? haha. thanks. you can get the plugin there. All the files with a .dds extension in the /images folder are the UI images. The DDS extension is short for Direct Draw Surface, the plugin will let you open them in PhotoShop to mess around with 'em. I also heartily recommend the DDS Converter tool from the nVidia website, you can use it to do batch converts of a whole directory of images, should you have the desire. Hope that helps. Keep in mind, truly custom UI's use art that was never originally shipped with the game, so anything you can create or get the author's permission to use, could conceivably be made into a UI. Wulfy |
Thanks a ton!
