Clearing the Clutter

I know that dual monitor support is all but a pipe dream... however speaking to a UI dev for Soccom(located in the same office building as me) I came across the idea that I dont see how a seperate parsing program could at least show a few chat windows on the second monitor, clearing up some MUCH needed space in my UI... is this possible? I dont see how it would infringe on the user agreement as its not really doing anything a parser wouldnt pick up.. it would jsut be displaying it in a different fashon

Thanks in advance for ANY replies.. be it good or bad news

I guess second request would be to see if anyone would be actually willing to put something like this together? or am I barking up the wrong tree by asking here?

I agree with Lindar that this would be a totall cool option. I also use dual monitors and I can only have the game play on one monitor (otherwise my poor video card can't keep up). If the chat text was on the secondary monitor it would make my game window much less cluttered. I don't even know if this is possible, but it seems pretty cool if it is.

If this is the Lindar I know he is always barking up the wrong tree :D
If not

Anywho, it sounds cool and beyond what I know can be done with UI and such.

It’s not at all doable with the UI but an external parser it is very doable and quite easy if one wanted to do it. It wouldn’t break the EULA either as it would only read and redisplay what is in the log file.

You might want to see what this guy is doing ...
Advanced Combat Tracker

He's sending parsed info across a network and running the actual parser on a separate computer.

Actually, I wasn't quite right. He has a clipboard sharer included in the *.zip that allows you to access the parsed data from a second computer.

Edit: Actually, I think I was right the first time. Here's a forum post the details how to set it up.

Now I realize that a combat parser isn't exactly what your looking for, but since you're basically wanting to parse the chat portion of the log files and do the same things that he's doing with the stats, this guy might be able to help you out.
