simplify crafting
in WoW, there is an addon called AutoMake that will let you queue crafted items in a window, list all of their components with the skill used to make them, and will make the items for you (provided you have the appropriate supplies).
I'm NOT asking for an EQ mod that does the crafting for me. <--did everyone see that? good deal. I like AutoMake mainly because it provides a complete list of all raw materials that will be needed to craft. I'm still new to EQ2, so I don't know how many total ingredients I'll need to craft something at a glance. getting a complete list is a pain since it means scrolling back and forth between recipes and either making a mental note or writing it down. I'd love to see a mod that would allow you to add i.e. a tin symbol to a list, and it will show that you need X amount of tin, X amount of coal, X amount of roots for the chloro stuff, etc., so I know how much to farm/buy before I can make one. an added bonus would be a reminder next to each intermediary step showing what skill is used, and a count of how many of the materials you already have in your inventory. here's a screenshot of AutoMake as an example: http://iratestuff.com/automake.jpg In order to create = the finished products Using steps = intermediary steps You will need = raw materials needed thoughts? |
That would be a lovely thing, it is incredibly difficult to extract info from the crafting process. I'm not saying impossible, but as is you'd have to hand enter the recipes to create your database and we have no way of searching that isn't hard-coded.
Short of that I recommend http://www.eq2craft.com which is a web based, searchable database of recipes and I have found quite helpful getting several crafters through the ranks. |
that website is awesome, thanks for introducing me to it
I know it'd be a huge undertaking to make such an addon, if it's even possible, just figured I'd throw it out there and see if anyone is bored enough to try it. till then, eq2craft.com is my new best friend :D |
The WOW UI system is infinitly more programmable than EQ2 which isn't much more than window skinning.
I think probably the best we could do for EQ2 would be to make basiclly a text file that lists the items and what is required to make them. It would not be an interactive thing, just a text based reference. |
I use Milquetoasts Provisioners Cookbook mod. It includes all the recipes from T2-T6 as well as offering the ability to hit enter to repeat a crafting cycle. Look it up on this site as well.
