Dual Monitor Layout

I am looking for a layout fix to take advantage of my dual monitor setup. I want to be able to play the game on the left monitor, and use the right for my chatting, and character management. I also want to do this without having the in game action on both screens.

Monitor A:

Game screen.

Monitor B:

This Monitor I would like to use for all other UI interfaces:

Chat
Inventory
Hot Bars
Group Bar
Raid Bar
*And whatever else you can think of.

would love to do this too.. currently there is no way to do this. you can stretch the game across both monitors, BUT there is no /viewport command to allow you to put game screen on one side.

We have asked SOE to check into it.

oo dual screen question, if i get a second screen can i go fullscreen on 1 monitor and still move the mouse to the other? or does it trap the mouse?

Daimond 11-28-2004 05:10 AM

No it does not trap your Pointer on the game screen. what it does do though when you click on the other screen is drop the game into Windowed mode.

It would be most excellent to be able to use both screens like this. I've tried playing with the display spread across both monitors, and while the extra real estate is great for windows, having my character/viewpoint be at the split between the two screens makes it really hard to play...

Who can we bug about this?

Definately agree with the dual layout, man that would rock!

gonna sub this thread!!

This isn't a bad idea at all.... however a more simple fix I think would be to just split the entire game across both screens and then have a Horizonal Width slider bar like they have for the verticle (AKA Letterbox) Then you could simply resize the "game world view" window to only display data on one monitor... and put all the other GUI stuff on the other... although I have to admit I am not sure if the "letter box" setting is actually stopping data from being rendered or simply placing black squares on top of it.... if it's still being rendered this solution would suck down Video card cycles like there was no tommarow.

This is annoying me also. All they have to do is allow the silly chat windows *outside* of the EQ window. Or give a /viewport setting.

Anyone have any luck or feedback on dual monitor support? Not IM on the second monitor, but in game chat windows is what I'm looking for.

I'm using nview with an nvidia 6600GT on a 3200 32 bit AMD, barton. It's not the fastest of course, but i get zero lag if i set my monitors to either dual or horizontal span then launch EQ. So even a /viewport setting would suffice.

How about using 2 monitors - but vertically?
that way your main view should look ok and you can use top screen for all your windows?

Kamintar 05-09-2005 02:37 PM

What you could do, is make it so the windows are all independent, and then move all the UI to one side, but you would still have the video on that side as well. It will free up the left side (or whatever side you want) for all the viewing you want. Just do most of your fighting from the left. :)

But yes, I agree that we need a /viewport or horizontal slider like people before me mentioned. That would make the game so much better. The Letterbox just doens't work well for that kind of stuff.

Full Screen - EQ2 Switches to window mode

Hey all. I have a dual monitor setup (just bought it yesterday) and I was wondering if there is anyway to prevent EQ2 from going to window mode when you use say a web browser on the other screen. Currently I use EQ2 in full screen mode and when I bring focus to the web browser the EQ2 window goes into window mode and I have to reset back to full screen. Any way to prevent this?

Thanks!

No, that's not possible.

would this work? It would look odd to people when they come over but it would be so cool to have my "play" monitor on my desk top and my "control" monitor built into my desk under glass.....

No, it would still center your view on the split.
