Getting Custom UIs to work

I installed eq2maps.

.txt file reads as follows:

Q. I just see the default map window. What is wrong?
A. EQ2 isn't loading the customized map .xml file; either you put it in the wrong place or you don't have EQ2 set up properly to load custom UI files. Check eq2interface.com for assistance getting custom UIs to work

Where do I find assistance getting custom UIs to work?

I'm pretty sure I downloaded and installed everything as instructed and set up the eq2.ini file with the lines:

cl_ui_skinname eq2map
cl_ui_subdir UI/

This is my folder structure:

C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI

Default
eq2map
fonts
images
_mapinfo.txt
eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml

Of course, all the subfolders are complete too.

What else do I have to change in the game configuration to make the game use the new maps?

At first glance, it seems to me you would need to move the files
_mapinfo.txt
eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml

under the eq2map folder.

The problem you're having I think is not all the information (like images) arent being loaded. Your eq2.ini only points to the eq2map folder, but eq2maps uses multiple folders like the images one.

I'd recomend wiping out what you have and creating a subfolder like this:

C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\myui

then install eq2maps to the myui folder

change eq2.ini to show:
cl_ui_skinname myui
cl_ui_subdir UI/

Anything else you'd install or add will go in that myui folder, which is within the UI folder, should work fine :)
