How can I enable the old fonts again?

I see that there's a fonts directory. But how exactly can I enable the old fonts again?

It's in the patch notes !

You can either do it from the command line or Options/UI/Font Smoothing...

Stillwaters 06-09-2005 04:25 AM

I did what the patch notes said, and it didn't go back to the original font. It just went to a less big version of the one they added. It is still ugly :(

Put the old font files into your custom UI directory.

You can pull them from http://geekforhire.org/files/Default.rar which is the default UI as of a week or so ago.

I did this, and with the smoothing off, it looks exactly like it did before, instead of the horrible un-smoothed fonts in the update.

How can i activate/deactivate the font smothing from command line?

The funny things that for me (german version) the checkbox mentioned in the patch notes doesn't exist. Neither with custon ui nor with the original ui.

the correct path through the options window is:

Options Window > User Interface (tab) > Game Windows (expand this) > Smooth Fonts (uncheck this)

i know its called a bit diffrent in german but for me this checkbox doesn't exits
asked some guildmates and they have the same problem. No checkbox for fonts.

You tried this with the default? Dunno what to tell you, because EVERYTHING in the options window is pushed from the games side (except for the layout).

So, if you don't have it, then you don't have it. We cant add it for you.
I forget what the command is.

Do as others have said, click These are the DEFUALT Prior LU#10 fonts! where you can dload the "default" fonts. Place THOSE fonts in your custom directory. It will now not matter if you have the checkbox enabled or disabled for smooth fonts. All of your custom windows WILL look as they did prior to LU#10! The ONLY thing that will be affected by smooth fonts by doing this, will be the actual CHAT text. (Which I can live with :) )

Funny enough I nearly just dummped the old fonts straight into the UI but decided to have a look in game 1st to see how bad they realy are......
pleased I did as,

Actualy I like the new ones! they are alot easier on the eye's IMO :)

Landiin 06-09-2005 01:31 PM

I aree Laffs, I don't know about at a lower rez but at 1600 they are a lot easier to read to me and look a lot better then the old ones.

Magus 06-09-2005 02:32 PM

1024 on a 15" CRT and they make my eyes bleed :)

depechenode 06-10-2005 04:11 PM

New fonts on a digital LCD 21" monitor look blurry to me at 1600 x 1200 reso.

I do not like them at all.

Jerhico 06-10-2005 04:37 PM

Wow, a lot of hate on this change.

You either seem to love 'em or hate 'em, there's no in-between. :)

Chumba 06-10-2005 06:15 PM

On my analog 19 monitor they look OK, On my 17 LCD, they look a bit "off".

At 1280x1024, same video card. same machine.

Here a better way

Hi,
Thanks for the Defaut.rar file but found out you only need the files with font names so here's one I put together just unpack it in your Sony\EverQuest II If you already have a Custom UI folder just drop them in your folder only 21 in total.

Default Fonts File

Hope that helps, tried tested and used by me :)
