Do I NEED to run updater every time I play?
 

Or can I just run updater occasionally to update my maps and poi's and then just start EQ2 normally, without going through the updater?

I only ask, because I swear I read somewhere that you need to start EQ2 through the updater EVERY time you play. Maybe I read it wrong, and I cant seem to find where I read it now. :(

no, you dont need to run it every time you play, just run it whenever you want to download the new points/maps/fixes. right now there is a lot of stuff being added/corrected. the answer is no you dont have to, but its so fast that most of the time its worth waiting the 10 seconds to have the newest fixes and correct pois (bad ones are removed from the list to update until they are corrected and then re-added). its really up to you how often you want to run it. also although most people know this, for any who dont the updater doesnt run in the background, it closes itself when it launches EQ2
